What is the appeal of these things? I have fired a couple of them before, but not enough to make a proper judgement for them other than the fact that they're okay to shoot and fairly lightweight despite being a milled gun.
However, they seem to be very limited in terms of parts and accessory, not to mention the proprietary magazine and looking like a failed abortion.
I've seen a number of people being extremely vocal about them in the couple past month and i'm genuinely curious on what makes them revere the damn thing.

they're non restricted in canada while all AKs are prohibited, and they're generally of more consistent quality than american built AKs

other than that it's kind of just preference, you can load them via stripper clip which makes them appealing for cuckifornians I guess because it allows easy loading with a fixed magazine
>>
>>33421149
Century was selling them for $400 with 5 magazines a while back.

At the going rate I don't understand
>>
>>33421149
If you live in the US, not much.
You can get a an Arsenal or other decent AK for less than the Czechpoint vz58's.
>>
>>33421149
They are the perfect auto loader for 6.5 Grendel.
>>
>>33421149
Proprietary mags? I've been thinking about building a vz-58 lately cause it's a bit cheaper than an ak but holy shit i didn't know that. nopenopenope
>>
>>33421675
Mags are different than ak mags, however they only cost $15 (that's what I got mine for)
>>
>>33421724
That's not too bad. I'm in NY so I need 10 round cucked mags. I'm seeing 10rd mags for like $40. I could have a $15 30rounder shipped to bad-element, pinned at 10 and shipped back to me cheaper than that lol
>>
When they were 250 they were a steal. Loghtweight and stronk, it will work with ak mags if you can cut and weld the tabs. Only worth it on drums

Ill dig up pics of mine later maybe, i swapped all of the beaver barf out.

All in all a good gun but aks are cheaper now and have a much more common mag.

>looking like a failed abortion
Is it bad that I actually like the look of the Vz?

I'm about to get a lot of hate from the ak purist fan boys but the blonde wood stock reminds me of the club stock look on the rpk.

I think the vz's look better in bakelite though, just helps set them apart from the ak's that little bit more.

Not at all. And the Vz side folder is top-tier, shits all over the AK.

I admit that bakelite really suits to Vz 58
But the first series were in wood (Also, my father served with wooden stock on his 58)

I simply always wanted to have a Vz 58 in wood

This rifle might be good for you seeing as how it takes SKS stripper clips

VZ58 is comparable to AK, just more reliable than the original russian AKs. And, there are way more AKs than VZs out there.
>>
>>33421961
I didn't know they were originally produced with wood. Is that your father's rifle? That's pretty cool, anon.

>>33421975
That is what I've been thinking. Even if I don't have strippers, anything with open access to the mag when the bolt is back makes building a fixed-mag "evil" rifle possible. Can't wait for these shitty laws to get fixed or till i have enough money to move. Whichever comes first.

Wood on my Vz.58 is original just with re-finished surface. "Wooden" rifles were in service (blended among others) till +/- 1975 During overhauls gradually disappeared...

My father served with folding stock Vz.58 V
He was a driver of TATRA 813 8x8 with 122mm RM-70 GRAD launcher

This is a rifle made by CZUB from army depots parts (who knows maybe it contains some parts from my father's one ;3)
>>
>>33421149
I like mine because of the bolt hold open, but that's more of a novelty. It's not really a huge help. I got mine at a gun show for 250 last year. Never had it jam and it's pretty accurate for how much I paid. Expect to pay a lot more. I hit the jackpot.
>>
>>33422240
Some of the century arms Vzs could because there were notches in the top of the bolt. Main issue was that in order to remove the clip, you had to release the bolt forward.
>>
>>33421149
>What is the appeal of these things?
The fact that they're not-AK's. And I mean that literally, they are "Not-AK's". Much like how in Game of Thrones, Westeros is very much not-Britain. It's a combination of familiarity and uniqueness.

More technically, they were made to keep native Czech arms procurement independent of the uniformity of the Soviet Union, who were much more strict than NATO when it comes to weapons. The vz.58 looks a lot like an Ak-47, and fires the same cartridge, so the Soviet Union stopped putting pressure on them to adopt their shit. But it's 100% Czechoslovakian, and that's what's important.
>>
>>33421149
its an sks....its an ak.... its both...kinda. can load with trippers or throw a new mag in. accurate cheap. not restricted in cali. striker fired. jsut prefrence. i own one over the ak and im in the U.S. ergonomics are pretty sex tier too.
>>
>>33421149
It's a very slim, light weight 7.62x39 rifle that can be reloaded with stripper clips if you want, and its ergonomics shit all over an AK.

Basically they do just enough different from an AK to interest some people.
>>
>>33421790
It's fucked up that ten round mags cost 2-3x more than standard mags
