I just bought this SKS at a local gun show this past weekend and I've been trying to figure out what type it is and I haven't had any luck. Can anyone here help me out? posting pics of marks on my rifle.

Why don't you just do the most basic of research? It's gonna be a lot faster than waiting on us.
Here is a pic of the markings on the rifle.

Norinco Commercial SKS I'm assuming. Spike bayos are usually Norinco.
here is another
Type 56

Are the commercial ones made shitty? or are they all pretty much the same.

there is some variation in quality
Here is a pic of the barrel i thought it looked weird but im not a gun expert so im not too sure what it means.

I also forgot to mention that this is my first gun and was wanting to know if i did good? I paid $400 for it.

Gee I wonder what kind of country would put chink characters on their guns

just a machinist that didn't care
Chinese Norinco. You paid what they go for, not what their worth. Fun gun.

Commercial models aren't necessarily shitty. Just different. Pinned barrels instead of threaded. Stamped trigger guards instead of milled. Different wood used for stocks. I'm still not sure if it's commercial or military though, but I'm guessing commercial from the stock.
I did a bit of research on the markings and it seems that most sks's have one of these triangular stamps but my rifle doesn't seem to have one.

The markings you showed are usually for military factories. I want to bet that yours is more recent in production than what you showed in that markings image.

Where is your internal magazine?
Even with that you paid about average for today depending on the state you live in

How is the barrel condition wise?
Is it all matching?
If so, $400 was fair
>>33414264
Yes its all matching numbers.
Well this thread makes me feel a little better having paid $400 for a Sino-Soviet /26\ back when I was still in NY, about 1yr ago.

and the barrel is in great condition as far as i can tell. I took it the range a few days ago and shot about 100 rounds through it and no problem at all it was also very accurate at 100 yards (max distance at the range i was at).

>tfw I bought my Sino-Soviet with matching numbers, two chest rigs, and a ziplock full of stripper clips for $300
Sometimes listening to /k/'s memes pays off. I just wish I bought a 91/30 or a Nagant Revolver back when they were under $100.
