Thoughts on New Zealand's new service rifle?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LkXLrHLYfw

It will be replacing the Steyr Aug.
>>
>>33409788
Looks like an M4.
>>
>>33409788
It goes bang
Seems like most militaries are moving towards the AR platform.

It was a pleasant surprise.
>>
It makes sense that since they were going to have to replace their aging collection of AUGs at some point, they would move to a different platform while they were at it.

They have my support, LMT makes damn fine rifles.
>>

>AUG A3
>Austeryr btfo

U wot m80?
>>
If I am headed into the forces next year will I be trained to use this as well as the Steyr?
>>
How long until Australia replaces theirs?
>>
>>33409788
Is it better than Australia's new EF88 Austeyr?
>>
>>33409864
The moment they dont waste money on f35s and immigrants.
>>
>>33409898
It's just a really nice AR with a monolithic upper.

So yes.
>>
Hold on, we have a better standard rifle then the staes. WINNING!!
>>
>>33409917
Just because you have to buy less and replace less, hotshot
>>
>not buying guns off your mates
That damn Jew is still in charge, I take it.
>>
>>33409922
Still no jets.
>>
>>33409788
God damn the AUG is an ugly rifle. Looks fucking inconvenient as hell to carry and operate with in field conditions too.
>>
>>33409940
Shit taste and wrong
Still deserving of replacement though
>>
Interesting, in 2011 they adopted a 7.62x51mm rifle as DMR (the same as the L129A1 the British Army use), so the fact that they are now getting their main 5.56x45mm service rifle from LMT suggests they had a good experience with them.
>>
>>33409829
So... Four Ar15s vs everyone else?
>>
>>33409829
That image looks like it was cobbled together very unprofessionally.
>>
>>33409796
Nah, I'm not seeing the resemblance.
>>
>>33409898
no, they were too poor to afford it hence the lmt
>>
>>33409982

It is, Image 5, is not an A3, it's a F90 AUG made by Thales that the Australian army now uses.

It was. It is a screenshot of an official information act return with random images of the named rifles. One of them is even airsoft.
>>
>>33409922
what'd you say?
>>
When will Singapore follow suit? Our rifle looks ugly as fuck.
>>
>>33409796
Looks like a FAMAS
>>
>>33409898
Purely because of QC and QA.

Lithgow isn't competing with Daniel Defense, Troy, Knight's Armament, FN Herstal or Colt.

The company throughout it's history has never had to compete with an industry peer in the Australian domestic market under conditions similar to the U.S domestic market.
>>
How feasible is it for an army to issue lefty guns? I've shot ar15 left handed for fun and it sucks. Ambidextrousity in general sucks ass.
>>
>>33410386

Since no major defects have shown up with it since it went into service, it's unlikely to be replaced before the mid to late 2020s.

Would be nice if they licenced the mini tavor from Israel.
>>
>>33409829
>>33409788
That's a big gun. I'd have gone HK or SIG for the gas length. Have an inkling there were noobs shooting the trial who preferred the extra length buffering in cycling.
>>
>>33409788

>11,000 active personel
>>
Pretty soon the world will be filled with only ARs and AKs
>>
>>33410909
sorta feels like it, someone should take a CZ contract just for shits and giggles
>>
>>33409859
Probably both for some time. People were still being trained on the SLR well into the late 90s.
>>
Let's hope for a chance at some cheaper surplus AUGs then
>>
>>33409829
bren is sexy and while the ar160 has some cool features it is in fact a piece of junk.
>>
>>33411808
lol
