There's one like this in my local pawnshop for 380 bucks, what does /k/ say? Buy it or leave it?
>>33407862
If it slam fires yes its worth it.
>>33407870
Why would slam firing be a positive attribute?
I'm new to guns and genuinely curious.
>>33407935
Basically because it's fun, and there are few if any shotguns on the market that can do it, so if you're going out of the way to find a rarer or more unique shotgun, you might as well look a bit harder to find one that can do something cool.
I've never heard anyone say anything bad about Ithacas, but if it's one that doesn't slamfire it doesn't do anything other shotguns won't.

you are a special kind of stupid.
>>33408086
He is.
>>33407935
slamfire in anything besides a pump action shotgun is a bad thing.
he's referring to the super-soaker type action where you hold the trigger down and the action of the pump forces the gun to fire as fast as you can jack off the gun. most pump guns have a 'safety feature' that disallows this.
>>33408340
Ah thanks.
>>33408340
>B-but that's more than one round being fired per trigger pull! Muh dogs!!
>>33408377
yw, anon wasnt clear and i couldnt stand by while someone might have went out and actively asked "this will slamfire right?" and maybe fuck himself out of a really good deal
>>33408406
gatling guns and crank triggers are legal, pump action is considered similar and therefore, dog-safe

forgot my image
Look around and find one of the older ones with the removeable barrel.
If you ever have a "death-jam" (where the round in the magazine pops out from under the shell stops at the wrong time -which happens) you'll have a hell of a time clearing that jam with the fixed- barrel security model.
I picked mine up for $150.00 a couple of years ago. I'll have to lop off about a foot of barrel to get it down to 20". Check the gun stores with a used rack and pawn shops. Don't overpay.

yall niggas undestand it's a pump action shotgun and it's physically impossible for it to slamfire in the same way, a dirty sks might, right? Like goddamn.
>>33408340
>the action of the pump forces the gun to fire as fast as you can jack off the gun.
kek, that's probably the best description of the slamfire function I've ever seen.
>>33408578
Mines a 1975 that slam fires and has the 8 round magazine. The only downside I have been noticing is that 2 3/4" shells aren't that common anymore. And when I do see some they usually are something I'd rather not shoot, like really small bird shot.
>>33408340
>action of the pump forces the gun to fire as fast as you can jack off the gun.
How oddly arousing
I have an older 37 capable of slam fire and I love it.
That said though, you can get slam fire capable 37s in good condition for under 300. The issue is that most in that price range would be old enough that the barrels were individually fitted, so while you can remove a barrel they aren't interchangeable unless you send it in to be converted for like 200 bucks.

literal retard
>inb5 hurr durr different than an SKS becuz its not da semi otto and its a rifle and its not cuz dirty firing pin
Ithaca 37 can assuredly be slamfired, intentionally.
>>33408969
Is 2 3/4 really not as common? I thought it was the standard over 3. I just picked up a 1967 featherlight for $300 syrupbucks. First shotgun.
>>33409119
It's not that it's uncommon it's that other size shells are the standard now. Getting 2 3/4 slugs or 00 buck is hard to do where I live.
>>33409132
It's a full fixed choke so no slugs for me. Can you recommend a good brand for inexpensive bird shot? I'm just looking to do some plinking. The only other guns I own are milsurp and I've never bought anything except bulk milsurp ammo.
>>33409145
>inexpensive bird shot?
I mainly shoot Federal, but that's not really cheap. Also the have lead and lead free ammo. Best bet might be at a Walmart and getting bulk.
>>33409178
Alright, will do. Thanks.
>>33407862
It's my favorite pump shotgun and I have a few of them.
Serial numbers 855000 (~1963) and up have (mostly) interchangeable barrels.

Slam fire is a neat trick. If the trigger is held as the slide is "slammed" shut, it will immediately fire. Firing releases the slide lock to chamber the next round. Lather, rinse, repeat. I can empty my 5 round 37 20ga in about 2 seconds.
What optic would /k/ put on an Ithaca with a cantilever mount barrel?
