France has been getting BLACKED since the 1800s, kid. Right wingers like to think that the way Paris is today is a new phenomenon but it's not, it's always been full of niggers. The French never considered their colonies actual colonies, they were always considered a literal part of France and therefore its subjects were French citizens and were allowed to migrate freely. Tons of Algerians and shit flocked to France.

I get remained of the young Bond book series. In one of them a man discusses a mans death by commenting on the death of a saint. He says the man is smiling, not because he was seeing his God, but because he was remembering his mother for the last time. It was a recurring theme throughout that book series.

I was in 8th grade, and we were watching the exact scene in OP's screenshot.

There was this retarded kid who laughed at him for crying out for his mother as he died.

Every single other guy, including myself; in the class scoffed at him and shut him up. There was an instant and unspoken understanding throughout the rest of us who completely understood why one would cry for one's mother as they died in a war.

>That horrible feeling when the last time you saw your best friend, he was all smiles / laughs about his deployment

Dead to an IED many years ago. Fucker was barely halfway through his deployment too. I go to his grave every month, lay flowers and then slam back a bottle of scotch in his memory.

I still think he'll show up one day, maybe. Then it hits me all over again. He went there only to return in a casket.

Rest in peace, James.

I was a flight surgeon on a MH-60 in Iraq.

Heard a lot of that shit, though there is one that has always struck me as morbidly hilarious in a way.

This stretcher team was running up to our helicopter and one of the guys running alongside to provide security stepped into this ditch and kicked a mine or something explosive.

He was tossed out of the ditch and landed about three feet from the helicopter. I disembarked and ran over to help him. He looked at me, just said "ain't that some shit" then died.

They weren't even Nazis, they were speaking Czech.
They were soldiers from another nation that were pressed into service and were surrendering to their liberators.

The last time I saw my friend, this was during the summer break after we finished 6th grade. I was at walmart looking at those tech deck bicycles that were so popular back then, when he happened to see me and said hi and that he liked the one I was looking at.
I ended up getting it.
A few days passed and my dad came up with the idea of going to rent some movies from the movie rental store in town. On our usual route there we came upon a road block and I still remember seeing our DARE officer waving us off. The scene was comprised of two squad cars, a vehicle in the ditch and a hearse.
We turned around and took the longer route around, going back home we tried the original route that had been blocked off. The scene was clear by then but my dad's curiosity made us stop.
He got out and inspected the pain lines on the road and when he got in he said one of them said 'hand'.
We got home, watched our movies and the next day my parents got a phone call from my former 6th grade teacher.
He was calling to inform us that one of my fellow students, my friend, had been run over and killed.
That road block was where he died and that marking was for his severed hand.

Him and another classmate had gone out to ride their bicycles out on the road when a car, that was speeding, blew through the blind corner and crossed the center line and hit him.

I still have that toy bicycle.

One of my buddies had a Sgt while he was deployed who would skype call his wife and newborn baby girl as often as he could while on camp, he was so excited for being able to go home and see his daughter, buddy said he called 3 times one day to no answer, then the 4th time his wife answered the call and his daughter wasn't there

Buddy doesn't know exactly what happened but as far as anyone can tell his daughter died somehow and he found out after coming back to camp after 2 weeks of nasty patrols and IED clearance

The Msgt that was assigned to his brother to make sure he didn't kill himself slipped to me that he didn't die immediately in the blast and burned to death slowly. I used to think that WWII Marines must've been some tough bastards to move on after what they went through in the Pacific and raise a family but you have to remember, we know them as good ol' Grandpa who loved to talk about fishing and his car but we weren't there for when he got back after the war.

They've had a long time to come to terms with the things they saw and did, there were probably many who couldn't and took matter into their own hands when they were still young.

Still though, if there was one thing that wouldn't change for most of them is that deep seated hatred for the Jap as R.V Burgin buts it, after all these years and I bet most of them still hate that son of a bitch tojo they had to fight on those islands

Really activates those almonds

my grandfather was a little too young but joined the Airforce a year or so after it was formed. He fought in Korea as what we call today combat controllers but back then were called pathfinders.

One night he's manning the tail gun on a bombing mission in his A26 over Korea. Anyway on the way to their target grandpa gets up to take a piss and by off chance he catches the Korean officer assigned to them right outside the cockpit with a weapon being raised to the pilots. He sneaks up behind the guy smacks his arm down and shoves a knife into his neck and out his throat then pushed him out of the plane before he had even died.

Grandpa joined the airforce when he was 16 years old and retired after 26 years finally finishing his career as a piston engine mechanic after Vietnam. He was involved in a lot of stuff. One of the earliest things he talked about was being in a ditch in Nevada while they set off tactical nukes in the distance then having everyone get out of the ditch and run some distance so they could take measurements.
different times for sure.

He never talks about his combat experience though.

I feel weird that now people have grandparents who didn't serve in WW2 (Am 28). But my mind can still kind of fall back into thinking of the Vietnam generation as my late father's own and thinking of vietnam vets as being late 40s to 50s, not 65s (which my dad would be if he was alive. Died 59 in 2011) to 70s.

But mine were both army air force and served in North Africa and Europe. I know they refused to buy Jap cars. Mother's father actually married a German woman (she worked for some Nazi radio station in Germany but fled in 45 before the Soviet rape machine arrived and got to France) so I don't see him hating Germans.

My guess is every generation in the US since our start of foreign involvement has had that kind of collective gestalt nemesis. The Greatest generation likely saw the Japs in a much more uncompromising light compared to the foreign 'nemesis' of future generations but I think you can see some of that in the Boomers/Gen X early and Russia, Late Gen X and Millennials and Muslims. And you have the march of time scar over the wounds. Greatest generation largely continued to view the Japs in the light of 40s Tojo yellow monkey, boomers and gen X experienced Japan as their era's China with lots of shitty products + Godzilla, we experience Japan as dope weeaboo shit and high quality products.

yes he was about to shoot the pilots.

Evidently there were spies sprinkled throughout and there was absolutely no reason for a that guy to have his pistol out in the first place. Add in the fact that it was being pointed at the pilots and that was that.

Grandpa has only spoken about his combat experience a few times. Being dropped out of planes a few miles away from targets for days at a time I am positive he has some stories to tell and I am sure he lost friends.

Imagine lying your way into the military as a freshman or sophomore in high school and seeing, hearing and smelling the things they did.

Grandpa started chain smoking at 13 had a heart attack at 66. Dr told him no more smoking so he quit completely cold turkey despite the fact that two of my uncles also smoked like chimneys around him. he just up and said to himself nope im not gonna do it anymore and that was that.

people like our grandpas were hardened in a way thats difficult for me to understand.
>>
>>33422610
Yeah, my gramps became a man of god after that. For an 88 year old, he's in pretty good shape. He doesn't smoke or drink, and goes out jogging regularly. He tells me about Korea often, and I'm thinking about writing a book about his experiences.
>>

My granpa finally stopped daily riding motorcycles about five years ago and that was because he wasnt sure he could pick up his Aspencade by himself if he dropped it.

He also only has a glass eye lol he lost his eye after retiring from the airforce and was working as a master tech for Volvo. screwdriver fell from the top of the engine while he was under it.

He has a large pension from the Airforce with a sizable extra bit from being involved in the nuclear testing. He knew some pretty famous pilots even some of the Tuskegee guys and my uncles godfather was on the Doolittle raid.

My brother knows a lot more about grandpas service. Maybe one day he will put some of the stories on paper because hes not going to be around too much longer.

Both of my grandfathers were in WW2 and only one likes to speak of his service.
Both served in different branches: granddad on dads side was in Navy saw little to no fighting action but a bunch of hilarity that it could be grounds for a comedy movie.

grandad on mom's side served in the Army and was at D-Day, Bulge, France, Germany and was a BAR man. remained a PFC never gaining rank and eventually worked for the DOI. rarely, and very rarely would he ever speak about his service or his time. I had to probe him for stories but he didn't like it. He didn't get angry rather just avoidant on them.

Only morbid thing he did share often was how one of his men executed German POWs, and even then it was rare.

Germans were seen as civilized. They fought similar to us, had similar culture - they were very relatable. They would take prisoners and treat them as well as was possible under wartime conditions. They would be willing to surrender if the other option was fighting to the death. They were human just like us.

The japs were a completely alien culture, with a completely alien backround and features. We shared nothing in common apart from being human. They absolutely refused to be taken prisoner and almost universally would fight to the death, and even willingly did if it meant possibly taking a few of us with them to the grave. They rarely took prisoners and the ones they did were treated poorly. They were extremely brutal - they saw the war as if it were a fight between tribes where the loser would be wiped out totally - and they fought accordingly.

Also need to consider the pacific theater was entirely military operations. You didnt get to have some time off in paris and get a fleeting glimpse of civilian life still continuing without you. You got stuck on some shitty island with your buddies and waited patiently to be stuck in the meat grinder again wondering if the world forgot you even exist.

The pacific made absolute animals out of civilized men.

Grandpa was in the signal corps attatched to some infantry unit in europe in WW2. Landed on omaha beach, wounded in action by shrapnel. Healed and returned to the front. Later would be shot in the leg during the battle of the bulge. Never heard about his combat stories other than that he was in three "major" engagements. He earned a silver star among other medals so obviously he saw some shit. Left as a master sergeant although he supposedly was demoted and repromoted several times for disobedience.

The only thing i heard about him opening up about combat was how he absolutely HATED HATED HATED christmas and snow because of what happened during the german counter offensive. Anytime it snowed, even decades later, he would see red snow on the ground rather than white. Legit saw bloody snow as a flashback i guess - he said there was blood absolutely everywhere and bodyparts thrown up in trees and such. I heard he would weep when it snowed alot because of this but never witnessed that thank god. Motherfucker still lived in NY his whole life despite that.

Heard he was totally fucked up PTSD case for a long time and could be abusive while my dad was growing up although when i knew him he was the kindest man youd ever meet. Spent all his time sitting in the sun in his garden feeding songbirds and shooting squirrels with a slingshot.

The only other stories i heard were of him stealing a motorcycle and driving in the alps and how beautiful it was (having been there i can confirm) and how him and a friend got drunk and lost one time and had to hide in a ditch on the side of the road shitting bricks as a german company marched past them.

Worth mentioning he never expressed any outright hatred for the germans - although he would very angrily correct anyone in our family that said we were of german descent by saying we were austrian (german last name).

There was an old Latino Pacific War vet in my neighborhood when I was a boy, he'd tell us the more lighthearted stories when the kids in the neighborhood would catch him on his lawn

Later on I found out him and my dad were actually pretty good friends and that he'd seen some serious shit

It wasn't until I had enlisted that I realized that that insignia on his hat he'd wear for Veterans/Memorial Day was the First Marine Division insignia, that blue diamond and that the song he'd play every now and then was the Waltzing Matilda.

He was an honest to God combat vet, did all 3 Campaigns that a Guadalcanal vet would've done, I wish I could've spoken to him as an adult.

I also got to meet a Bougainville/Iwo Jima vet in a diner outside of Oceanside on the last days of my enlistment, he went from Private to the equivalent of a company first sergeant by the end of the battle of Iwo Jima

I did not imply that once in my statement. Notice the keyword "it". I don't fall into the same trap as /pol/ by thinking the tendency to be the imperative, but I do know that people more often than not are greatly influenced by whatever religion they grow up with, and yet there will always be a myriad number of personalities and exceptions produced.
>>
>>33429703

Except you're implying that these people must think this way because their holy book says so. Do you also think that all Christians believe that people should be executed for wearing clothing made of two different types of cloth?
>>
>>33429703
To add to that, you have to understand that whenever we us "Jews" in that manner, we refer to a select bunch who actually exercise considerable power in the pursuit of their agendas (like the previous anon said), not the general Jewish populace who might range from being indifferent to actively opposing them and in general just wanna go about their lives like everyone else. At least I do anyways.
>>
>>33429784
Again, I'm not saying anything like that. To put it simply, what I just said is that though certain people may gravitate towards a certain tendency, there's always gonna be variable results and exceptions
>>
>>33429827
>certain people may gravitate towards a certain tendency

So you think certain Christians gravitate towards a tendency to think that wearing clothing made from two different types of cloth should be punished, but not all of them, because it says so in the Bible? You're really proving your point there chap.

>>33429792
>you have to understand that whenever we us "Jews" in that manner, we refer to a select bunch

You sound exactly like one of those tumblrista SJWs who goes on rants about how men are such disgusting sexist patriarchal raping pigs, and when someone points out that not all men are like that they pissily respond, "well obviously that's not what I MEANT, shitlord"

>"That's demonstrably false though"
>My reply about the Talmud
>"So you think all of them like that?"
>My reply that says how even I think some of them do think like that BECAUSE of the Talmud, it's a natural rule that not all of them do and there will be variations and exceptions.

That clear whatever misunderstanding we were having, chap?

>>
>>33429878
>pissy, immature little rants
He says, oh the irony!
>>
>>33429955

The only misunderstanding seems to be on your part. First, you don't seem to understand that when you say "Jews" you are implicitly referring to all Jews, just like how a tumblrista complaining about men means all men. It's not a misunderstanding if you try moving the goalpost by stuttering "w-well I didn't actually mean Jews, I just meant a select group of people who are Jewish" it's just you being incapable of communicating effectively. It's also not a misunderstanding that by holding up a religious text as evidence of people's actual beliefs you implied that a religious text controls peoples beliefs. Obviously it's perfectly possible for no one to believe something that's written in a holy book. You completely failed to present evidence that anyone actually holds this particular view simply because it's written down somewhere. The only "misunderstanding" here seems to be your misunderstanding of basic logic and how to form an argument.

At this point, I'm scratching my head as to what exactly you're trying to achieve here. First of all, any relevant posts that I've made start with the Talmud one.

You're holding up a lot of implications here. What evidence do you need that a holy text can influence people's beliefs when we've seen it occur in everywhere from Christian, Buddhist, to Islamic societies? true story but turns out a girl I dated had a grandfather that ended up comandeering my family's home in Tuscany as a command post during the invasion. Apparently her grandad and my grandad both knew eachother, one was an Italian peasant, the other was an American soldier.

We're both American and met online, but we only found out about it after she told me her grandpas war stories one night. Just the statistical nightmare of us actually meeting is just so cool to me, I wish I could get back with her sometimes. She was amazing.

Probably not clarifying well, but basically he was an officer who comandeered my family home as a command post as it overlooked a valley

Forgive them for they know not what they do.
Or maybe inform them of what is going on.
But just being an asshole to them isnt going to make them see the truth any sooner

Fatally wounded by small arms fire, thats all we know about it.
Sometimes you just disappear.

my grand dad was a squadron leader of the RAF in the 301st and also he was in the siege of tubruk and in a political prison and escaped from the nazis so he had quite an eventful life imo

Later in the war on terror we started doing that.

Combat lifesaver courses are now mandatory for all soldiers and everyone carries extra tourniquets.

It's brought the number of preventable deaths down by a huge amount.

I didn't have shit happen to me when I got my wisdom teeth out. But on my first deployment I had to get a cyst or some type of thing removed from the underside of my tongue which I had to be sedated for, and that was pretty funny.

>being sedated
>trying to keep the mood light since the nurse kept talking about how low the odds were of dying due to sedation and failing miserably
>say "hey wouldn't it be funny if I just stopped talking mid sent-"
>actually happened, funny to me, but pretty dumb
>my Chief had to walk me back since we were a small shop and everyone else was working on the flightline
>still not lucid in the slightest afterwards
>apparently run straight into door to my dorm row
>get extremely offended for all of 5 seconds
>"what the fuck door" etc
>fully come to in room, Chief and roommates laughing their asses off

I said a lot of stuff apparently while I was still out of it, kinda wish I found out what for the sake of the story.

We all had that dude in our classes. Either edgy mcedgerson or dude mcdudebro laughs at some scene because it makes him nervous to feel and he doesn't know how to shut the fuck up and keep it inside.

I remember my dad getting real drunk at dinner once and telling me about being in the Pentagon during 9/11, I think he was like on the other side of it or some shit, he was a Major at the time.

He told me that he saw a buddy of his and didn't even recognize him because he was so badly burnt. Apparently he tried getting him evac but his skin was so bad that it just came off in my pops hands.

The general was too weak for me and I woke up twice when the doctor was chiseling on my impacted teeth (all of them). That's almost all I remember. I was told by three people that I spent the entire recovery period hitting on the nurse. She was late 50's so it probably made her day. Then I fell asleep at home for 15 minutes (aka 5 hours) and didn't take my pain meds so I woke up in agony. Proceeded to vomit a pint of blood from my mostly closed mouth and nose because my cheeks were stitched shut. My experience was better than my brother's.

And years later I had a EGD and coming off of the sedative made me choke up for about 5 seconds because I felt like I'd been violated by aliens with a huge probe, and then my brain said "that's fucking stupid, stop being a bitch." and I was fine.

My Dad says that my grandfather has pulled a knife on his brother before (for playing with a knife around Grandpa) and beaten his sister half to death (for accidentally leaving some soap in a thermos she washed)
Dad wagers that he was having PTSD "episodes" at the time as they were apparently out of the ordinary events

The South East Asia campaign included the war in Burma (bit more extensive than just burma in reality) , essentially retaking a range of european colonial territory / defending it.
You could catch a glimpse of civilian life, just most of it wasnt your own.
There were of course european colonists, but in areas where the japs had been first, the japs... they did fucked up things to europeans.

When I had spinal surgery, they didn't give me any of the good shit. They only gave me antibiotics that made my veins burn and something that made me feel like I was constantly pissing myself.
