Aperently the SAS had to escort the British PM to safety
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/theresa-bundled-out-parliament-house-10076764
Is this part of their usual job or have the bings just become aware of the fact that they dont have that much armed cops?
I was always on the impresion the SAS was specialised in intelligence gathering and direct action missions.
>>
>>33401588
are the British even trying anyore
>>
>>33401588
Take it with a pinch of salt, UK newspapers are absolutely fucking awful when it comes to properly naming things. I highly doubt the SAS was just chilling in Parliament ready to escort her. She has her own secret service-y type people. Also, that area of London is literally fucking littered with armed cops with MP5's and G36's. Embassy's, banks and government buildings everywhere.
>>
>>33402044
And still it's not safe enough from mujahadeen
>>
>>33402074
It will be in about 50 years when Europe is under Islamic rule.
>>
>>33402074
There's really not a lot you can do to stop some random car flooring it and mounting the pavement yo. Parliament where cop got knoifed is literally 6 feet from the street and got blasted away in seconds by plain clothes suits.
>>
>>33402094
That's exactly my point. All the security, databasing, cctv, training, armed men and it's still not a detterent.
>>
>>33402117
Unfortunately true, father is an ex bobby who trained rookies in counter terrorist searching and VIP event planning, and he was getting furious at the TV when the news were saying "was there more that could have been done?"
i say RACE WAR NOW
>>

Yeah zero fucking sources in the article. The SAS do sometimes do body guarding but I doubt they make it their bread and butter to guard the PM.
It was most likely her own security detail who wear suits to blend in with most politicians and business wankers.
The retard who wrote the article, if they aren't just outright making it up, probably saw plain clothes and assumed they weren't police.
The SAS are around but everything happened so fast I doubt they had time to get there before she was bundled out of a side door.
>>
>>33402117
Kinda hard to deter someone bent on suiciding by threatening him with death bro.
>>
>>33402150
This. UK news is aids when it comes to this sort of thing.
>>
>>33402165
>all news is aids when it comes to anything
FTFY
>>
>>33402173
Yeah
I only read the Beeb for big stuff, local papers otherwise.
>>
>>33402117
It's he'll of a deterrent against more serious and more effective attacks.
If we go by the Israeli experience, which I believe to be the most extensive one (especially among developed countries) in regards to "lone wolf" attacks, than I think that it's evident that you can't prevent them but only stop them via hard kill.

UK newspapers can be good, just not at anything factual
>>
>>33402223
Everyone in the UK knows that the Sport isn't even a real newspaper, just a shitty rag full of plastic tits and fake stories. Your argument is invalid
>>
>>33402273
But today's newspapers are meant to entertain and not deliver actual news to people. If people are entertained by fake news then the newspaper is good.

Democratization of force.
>>
>>33402044
Lot of good it did the poor bloke who got stabbed to death. I'd be demanding a gun or hanging up my badge if I were in the Met right now.
>>
>>33402217
>you can't prevent them but only stop them via hard kill.
Well you cold prevent some if the muzi comunity would report them
And for the rest you would need a de facto police/military state to stop them in a short time (like Israel) we should legalise cc in europe
>>
>>33402349
>Lot of good it did the poor bloke who got stabbed to death. I'd be demanding a gun or hanging up my badge if I were in the Met right now.
He was on duty at parliament, what makes you think he didn't have one?

Some guy runs up, you don't automatically shoot him because you spend most of your day giving directions to tourists and telling people to keep off the grass and for all you know, he's going to tell you that something happened somewhere, then he's within 20' and you know about that rule...
>>
>>33402551
not him but the way that his partner was unarmed and had to run off to get help is a bit of a context clue
>>
>>33402551

The Met have confirmed he was unarmed. As a bong I want to know why he wasn't armed. He may still be alive if he was.
>>
>>33402551
there had just been a ca smash into the other side of the fence, the guy ran over: they probably thought it was an RTA at first: befpre the stabbing started.
>>
>>33402094
>>33402117
Just put some bollards.
>>
>>33402567
Running off to get help. It's pretty apt symbolism for the UK state of affairs. The policeman has to run away to get help for his partner who is being stabbed to death by a savage. Either the West adapts, or it perishes.
>>
these guys are part of london's ct unit or some shit.

A guy on the radio today said the following:
If the policeman who got stabbed and killed was armed, then the attacker would have gained a firearm to kill more people with.
The DJ fucking agreed with him.
Pretty sure that if an armed policeman is approached by one of our peaceful religion folks of misunderstandings, who has knife and yells Allah Akbar, policeman will politely shoot him in the dick.
Shit triggered me.

Oh, interesting, I didn't know about them

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counter_Terrorist_Specialist_Firearms_Officer

>A Counter Terrorist Specialist Firearms Officer (CTSFO) is an elite British police force comprised of 130 firearms officers who have received additional training. They were established in 2015 to combat the direct threat of terrorism against the UK.

I kind of prefer the Cold War nomenculature, when they had the "Counter Revolutionary Warfare" wing of the SAS. "Counter Terrorist" sounds sort of meh these days with how often you hear the word "terrorist" used.

"SAS Counter Revolutionary Warfare Wing" sounds imperial as fuck, like their job is to completely subjugate a populace. That is awesome. How far they've fallen.
>>
Pretty sure SAS were doing this for years. I'm no expert, but I've seen people mentioning this in relatively old documentary.
I wonder why they are doing this, though. Don't they have specialized service for that?

I'd assume that protecting extremely valuable people is part of their job description. If I was the leader of a country, I would sooner trust my life to someone with tons of training and an equal amount of combat experience than to most police officers. I think it's a matter of them recognizing that rather than a lack of armed police.

The SRR (Special Recon Regiment) provides information gathering and on target recce.

The SAS comprises of several squadrons, of which the "conventional" warfare squadrons are Boat Troop, Mountain Troop, Air Troop and Mobility Troop. These units can perform both close target recce as well as direct action missions in their given modus operundi.
They also have a Counter-Revolutionary War unit, who perform much the same role as the US Green Berets.

They also have a Counter Terrorist unit, also known as 'the team'; these are the guys who wear the gucci black kit and do hostage rescues and raids such as the Iranian Embassy siege. They also act as overt or covert security for important persons, and they can be seen providing overt security for Theresa May during her inauguration parade to Downing Street.

The SAS also assigns those who have completed their bodyguard course to guarding VIPs.
