The CZ 75 Compact was designed for police departments, for what's that's worth. Yes, it was smaller for concealment during detective work, but for a daily duty gun, back in the day, the way you lightened up the load your officers had to carry, in terms of all steel guns, was to reduce their size. For example, take a look at the Makarov design, which we consider a compact or even subcompact today, but Eastern Euro police considered that their primary carry piece.

The PCR (with alloy frame) was literally the result of so many police departments complaining and asking CZ to make a lighter gun for them.

You can use the compact USP40C mag in the USP9C and it will hold 14 rounds of 9mm perfectly fine. You can also use the full size P30 mag, which holds 15 rounds and is extended. HKParts.net also makes mag extensions to get you up to 17, 18, 19 and as much as 30 rounds total, so you can swallow a dick.

Both measurements are deceptively wide. The USP has a very thick slide release, which is where that measurement is from, but the rest of the pistol isn't nearly that wide, obviously, since that would make it Hi-Point size or bigger.

Same deal with the P01 (provided you didn't get the super bulky rubber grips like me), frame is under an inch wide and slide rides inside that. Being non-ambi and having a very prodruding slide release and decocker increase its width significantly.

I have a CZ75 compact. Neat gun. They do make 16 rounders. They aren't really extended, they switched out the base plate, making it a little thicker on the bottom.

Slide is a pain in the ass to rack though, you need to do pinch method.

CZs are wonderful guns, they have great ergonomics, cheap mags, and mine have always been reliable. People will complain about the fit and finish. The more you shoot them the smoother they become, if it bothers you that much just take ten minutes and polish the slide rails with some 1500 sandpaper.

They are a little on the heavy side, just get a good belt and holster, or get a PCR which is an aluminum framed variant with a decocker.
