I don't know where this comparison with Finland came up from, but it doesn't get more accurate the more people post it. Finland has substantially fewer troops, and less in terms of equipment quantity and quality, compared to Israel. It's an entirely different weight-class, more comparable to other countries in Eastern Europe than a regional power in MENA.

ROK is also more powerful both. With more troops, and even more equipment than Israel, old and new. They only have a smaller air force and somewhat less mechanization. But I guess it's a more fair comparison.

Am in the IDF, armored forces, assisting infantry.
Conscription hurts, especially in forces that don't require actively trying to get to (various infantry brigades require passing a difficult test lasting several days to get admitted, only a part of those who try pass). So in the armored forces there's lots of people who really don't want to be there, a d as such are incompetent by choice. But it seems to me that that situation is slowly changing: there's now infantry in the armored corps for all the people who don't want to serve in tanks, and the training is good. Very disciplined, not unfair. Regarding the soldiers themselves, of course you get idiots mixed in. that's just a fact of life. But these idiots are slowly improved or get shipped off somewhere that doesnt give them an 80 tonne death machine to work. Officers seem to care a lot about their soldiers in training, but I'll admit I think my officers till now we're far above average. On the other hand, there's difficult tests to become one and it requires serving longer in the military, so I doubt retards would (or could) get mixed in.

It's not because Norway is any bad, but because that's comparing a relatively small Euro army softened by extensive peacetime (and social philosophys that support), to an army that operates 24/7 under the presumption that the countrie's continued existence is under direct and imitate threat (and they got a basis to believe so) and where kids, starting junior school, know that they're "destined" to serve and plan their classes and physical activities with accordance with what they want to do in the army. Europeans are traditionally good fighters, but high quality manpower doesn't make up for small numbers and lack of investment into equipment (not just personal gear, but tech, vehicles, meds, electronics, HQ equipment and so on), while Israel considers those to be fundamentals of a proper army.
Bottom line is: the skills of the individual soldier are comparable (Euros are naturally better fighters, Jews more motivated), but Norwegian equipment and personal doesn't even come remotely close to Israeli ones in terms of quantity and outright existing categories.

According to some of my own friends and my dad's friends who were in the military and met some IDF all say they are either brainwashed idiots or animals.

A friend who was in the MUHREENZ got to train with Shekel Operations and said they pretty much gave zero fucks about collateral damage as far as CQB went. They would blow holes through walls in neighboring buildings to get into a target building. And if people didn't GTFO they have very few fucks if they hurt or killed them. (Assuming the people hurt weren't Israelis. They made a point in saying that if they blew up some Palestinians who didn't leave after being told they were blowing shit up, they were supposed to see them a secondary.)

Then my dad's friend who is ex Operator who Operated Operationally back in the 80's and 90's said IDF were basically animals. He didn't go into detail, he just said he hated working with them because some of the stuff they did, he'd get court marshalled for and he was always afraid being associated with them (though he had little choice) would bite him in the ass.

And both said that the regular conscripts were always morons.

I figure it is like a vietnam scenario, you could stay in and keep feeding the people youre fighting a shit sandwich day in day out, but when john q public hears about your army getting 1-3 people killed per day they think youre getting routed and want to stop the war altogether. you then have to pull out because public opinion is lost. then you have to wait for the sand niggers to shoot more rockets or drive thru crowds and get shot to death as they try to hack people with machetes then the public will allow for retaliation again. rinse and repeat because the public's memory is like that of a goldfish
