Will the next MBT be called the M1 Schwarzkopf?
it is likely that it will not
no, it will be called the norman tank.
>>33396285
No it'll be the M2 ya big dumb.
>>33396285
What is this autism?
>>33396285
It'll be called Scorpion.
>>33396285
That is one of the gayer future tanks I've ever seen.

>>33396529
That tank is an absolute shit, even the Halo wiki practically says it's shit.
>>33396285
It'd be a different number, but I think it is fair to assume that it might be named after Schwarzkopf.
>>33396545
Well yeah, air droppable tanks are always kinda shit.

Isn't that the purpose of stuff like APCs and IFVs?

Germany's next tank will probably be called the Leopard 3

how about the Devers?

lol I just noticed. Googling "concept tank" or "future tank" brings up a shitload of bad designs

That's why crabtanks haven't been implemented yet, in testing they always get eaten. The Israelis only eat kosher food, so they won't be turned on by the delectable form and will be able to actually drive and do combat against crabtanks.

>>33397031

Marines have a combined force of Aviation, Armor, and Infantry.

Its an MBT that can be destroyed by 5 fucking 7.62 nato rounds
>>33396285
Is that a RAZOR mouse?
It'll be called the M(ay)-1 Putin, and we'll just import the Armata.
>>33396837
What yes it does
>>33398296
but the armata doesn't even have ceramic. it's just mild steel
>>33396539
Not to mention that its turrets seem to be crew-served weapons.
Because when you have a futuristic thank that shoots who the fuck knows what kind of high-tech railgun thing, your gunner will just line up the sights and eyeball it.
>>33397024
>That turret can't turn... It's fucking flush with the engine deck
Actually, the turret IS turned but the rear part of the turret is drawn straight and flushed, like they forgot what they were drawing halfway through.
>>33397157
We can only hope.
M2-Obama
>>33397113
I vaguely recall the background actually fucking mentioned the Panther's overall design not being of European Federation origin and it being a point of embarrassment on their part.
They also got super asspained when the US took a weapon patent and gave no fucks. Then the Russians for some reason use a weird ass looking IFV from South Africa.
>>33398166
please tell me that's not supposed to be what I think it is
Name it Moesby, Forrest, or Jackson just to see liberals REEEEEE over it.
A proper future tank will be able to elevate its gun 90 degrees to shoot at aerial targets
If an airplane fires a PGM at a tank, the tank should be able to fire a shotgun shell at that bomb before it kills the tank

Jackson already got a AFV, the M36.
Since the army is all "going old school" in their themes, there's revolutionary war generals we haven't covered yet.
Pulaski
Lafayette
Lee (again, but after Heny Lee III)
Korvats
Morgan
Forrest would never get anything due to founding the KKK and whatnot.
>>33396529
Now that I've watched more of the Gundam franchise I think the designer for this must have definitely watched the original series. Very reminiscent of those weird tanks both sides had in the ground war.
>>33400343
Here, have the Vanguard before being butchered.
>>33400450
A proper future tank would carry separate C-RAM or laser to defeat many threats while saving main gun ammo for use where needed because it takes so much space in the hull.
High angle fire is a very good idea though, but for engaging enemies in mountains and cities. Check the Houthi ambush vidyas where they fuck Saudi convoys up.
>>33400621
>McMaster
He's still alive so no.
>>33400933
Stay German for defense industry, logistics (why does no one think of reality?) and equipment and hardware commonality in detail.
Turkey is an enemy who buys Euroshit, not a modern country by civilized standards. Ergodan just insulted the shit out of Aunti Merkel and Germany.
>>33400604
"I never wanted high angle fire or gun depression and the sides of my turret were designed by retards to deflect RPGs and other projectiles into my turret ring but tech-illiterate dumbfux thinks it's kewl" sums it up.
>>33400604
Coax gun is absurdly tiny too. Dafug? Should be .50 BMG minimum. Lack of a ball mount for either gun means no self-defense without spinning the turret.
>>33400604

>>33397178
Drive that through a muddy field with ditches and see how it works out.
Ground pressure, what is it?
>>33401538
Bergdahl is available!
>>33401590
It's a tank, with fucking tracks for low ground pressure ergo it doesn't need a "base plate" and that abortion isn't located or shaped to be useful as such.
>>33401590
Telescoping cargo bin is extra useless weight compared to a more versatile (can double as bar armor and hold odd-shaped objects) bustle rack.
>>33401970
SPGs still need baseplates, especially if they are using guns bigger than 155mm. Having your suspensions take the shock from shooting a 203 will result in your maintenance people beating your to death with a tanker bar.
Things like the 2S7 Pion and M110 have base plates, despite having tracks and weighing 40 tons.
>>33401970
I'm not sold on a dozer blade that's significantly narrower than the vehicle either.
And then there's the point defence buzzword system.
>>33401351

So I guess tanks are gonna have radar as well, then?
Makes more sense just to have dedicated SPAAGs providing area defense for tank formations.
>Lies, Armata was stolen! Stolen! STOLEN!
Stay mad.
>>33401630
Yea but people will respond to that by producing munitions that have some resistance to lasers
No reason to not include the capability to shoot at aircraft/flying objects.
>>33402253
The K2 does.
>>33402253
Main gun can't react fast enough, but suitable radar could also work with APS systems and be dual use.
Airlift tonnage matters. Believe it or not even a few hundred pounds (no misprint) is of interest to TACOM. Bizarre shit but that was the mood a couple years ago when I got to be a minion at a conference at Benning.
>>33402253
Yes of course, any next gen MBT will include AESA radars
You need sensors like this for your active protection system, also good for reduced vision situations/night time/automated searching
>>33402291
Main gun has ample time to react to a missile fired from 1+ km away.
>>33400933
We'll not name our tank after one used by the perfidious anglo against us.
>>33401486
Do you even variable suspension ?
>>33401905
It's a specific shape to reduce the radar cross-section.

>>33401424
Came to post this
>>33402312
>Main gun has ample time to react to a missile fired from 1+ km away.
A missile. Singular. Don't think it can provide adequate response to salvos, hence Tor and Pantsir and Morfei.
>>33400604
It's the fucking Armata
the USA needs to catch up with Poland
>>33401141
>4 sets of dual-tracks
Must be a bitch changing treads.
>>33398657
>ACTUALLY
>>33406770
Now you are talking about missile salvo's that are more expensive than the tank, which is easily countered by smoke grenades
>>33402312
I think the US next generation MBT (all AFV's for that matter) will have a stripped down, less capable but more rugged version of EODAS.
Current pilot feedback for EODAS is overwhelmingly positive, and that's on jets which traditionally have great visibility. Tanks and other AFVs have traditionally awful visibility, giving tanker the ability to see through their tank is utterly game changing.
Imaging the possibility of a tank commander, seeing the outside world through HMDs, with a helmet-cued remote weapon station. That's going to be a nightmare for the enemy in urban warfare. If the TC sees you while being perfectly safe buttoned up, you die.
>>33406801
>The PL-01 attempts its almost magical infrared signature reduction via the installation of temperature controlled wafers that blanket its exterior. This chameleon's skin of sorts, allows the tank's skin to match the infra-red signature of its surroundings. It does this by processing what small infrared sensors mounted around the tank detect, and then displays a pattern on the tank's honeycomb-like covering that best matches the infrared data collected.
As a former gunner, this freaks me out a little.
