I have a reasonably nice AR15 but I need an optic for it. Are these worth it? It seems to get good reviews. Not looking to spend any more than $200.

get a primary arms advanced micro dot for like $120.

if you want what you're looking for you actually need to pay for quality, not get some chink shit that's going to fog two months after you get it.

pic related.
>>
>>33395781
These optics are garbage chink shit. Do what >>33395842 said and get a Primary Arms red dot, best bang for your buck IMO unless you want magnification, then I'd go Nikon for budget glass.

I truly hope you're memeing right now. No, a "3 in 1" sight that costs $70 is going to be crap. I'm not even a /arg/ style gear snoot, but use your head.

If you want a variable scope, a Vortex or a Muller gets you in for in the $200 range. If you go to the SampleList.com, you might be able to snag one for a little cheaper if you have some patience about what stuff comes in.

KalinkaOptics.com sells some Slav made optics that sit on rails. In my experience the glass quality and reticle options tend to be middling, but the durability is good.

Save up until you can get a quality micro-optic to offset if you feel like you still need it after shooting. RMR or a Doc.

Visible lasers are a meme.

>>33395781
why does this scope have assault bevels on the front? is this supposed to be a thrown weapon after you realize its shit and yank it off your gun?
>>
>>33395842
any suggestions for an open dot?

new AR owner myself. I have it on the confidence of /arg/, several online friends, and at least 4 other confirmed AR owners that the optic is going to be one of the most expensive pieces of your AR. There is no way around it. The decent to okish fall in the $300 range. The good ones are $500-700. It is suffering especially after trying to make a budget rifle but either you rely on iron sights or you spend the money for a good optic. Or you waste money on shitty knock off that lose zero after 8 round.
>>
>>33396470
Magnified optics are pricey. You can get a passable red dot for about $80.

The tacticool monstrousity in the OP should set off so many red flags its not even funny though.
>>
Might as well post this here.

Got a 1:7 5.56 and primarily use 77g. Should I get a .308 reticle acog or 5.56?

16 in barrel btw.
>>
>>33396490

Why would you get .308 for a 5.56?

Is this thread for real?
>>
>>33396530
Probably he is wondering because it's flatter shooting.

>>33396490
I'd just get the 5.56mm reticle. It will be a little off, but to be honest ACOGs are 500 meter optics and speedy optics to apply 1x1 meter suppression at distance. If you are shooting further than that and looking for nice small groups, I'd get something with more magnification, bigger objective lens, and with mildots, grid or something else that isn't a BDC.
>>
>>33396470
Look kid, don't listen to the other kids over in ARG. You don't have to have whatever name brand optic it is that's making the tripfags happy these days, but you do have to spend some money. Look at primary arms and vortex. There's even some nice entry level Leopold stuff out there in the 200-300 price range.
>>
>>33396574
Thanks.

>>33396530
Shoots much flatter.

$112 on amazon with free shipping...covers 2 of the 3...you now have $88 dollars for a red dot and other mall ninja shit
>>
everyone says these shitter-tier amazon special scopes are garbage but are there any legit reviews for them?
>>
>>33395781
A scope under $200 is not worth as anything other than an airsoft optic.
>>
>>33395781
This is you are on a budget

Bushnell AR Optics Rifle Scope 30mm Tube 1-4x 24mm Drop Zone-223 BDC Reticle Matte $139.99 & SHIPS FREE on midway

Adjustment Click Value: 1/10 MIL (.1MIL)

Or this

Nikon P-223 Rifle Scope 1" Tube 1.5-4x20mm BDC 600 Reticle Matte

$189.95

Or this if you must have an illiminated dot

Sightmark Core TX Dual Caliber Rifle Scope 30mm Tube 1-4x 24mm Red/Green Illuminated DCR 223/308 BDC Reticle with Weaver-Style Rings Matte 199.97

I'd get this though

Leupold Mark AR MOD 1 Rifle Scope 1.5-4x 20mm 1/10 Mil Adjustments Matte
>>
>>33397331
why would you even need a red dot with a 1-4?
>>
I once bought a $12 (yes twelve) red dot from amazon.

It works okayish... on my Nerf Rampage. And by "okayish" I mean I can reliably shoot my flatmate in the nuts at 15ft.
>>
>>33396530
Because the trajectory of Mk262 and its amalgamations are very similar to certain .308 loads you dipshit nigger
>>
>>33395781
I have that top vector optics red dot. Its shit. The design is made so that dirth and shit gets trapped behind theback lens and the dot projector is not between the glasses so the dirt will block the reticle too. Also the lens reflects the back par of the optic to ruin your vision.
>>
>>33397331
Gimme link so I can see if they ship to Finland.
>>
>>33402675
You're going to pay an extra 24% VAT, you pillock. Buy inside EU.
>>
>>33402721
Might still become cheaper. Everything is least 2x pricier here not including tax and postage
>>
>>33400186
>Because switching from magnified to non-magnified with a variable optic is not a hands free, instantaneous swtich. If you are of wanting maximum speed, hitting the throw lever costs time
>Variable optics do not have infinite eye relief even at the 1x setting. If you are shooting from an awkward position where the eye relief isn't going to be great, then you want a red dot

These reasons are by the way why I'm not a fan of variable optics. I'd rather go more compact with a fixed power optic and stick a micro-CCO on the side of the rifle for the highest speed, lowest drag dynamic buzzword operating.
>>
No-name made in China crap. Go to Opticsplanet and get a Burris 2x7 or 3x9. They're in your price range and have a lifetime guarantee.

Hah. I actually used that RDS mounted on top this last weekend. Some laser tag place had them mounted on top of their little toy gun things. It was an absolute piece of shit. Way too fucking bright such that the entire viewable area was washed out with a green haze of reflections. The entire thing couldn't hold a zero even in the half hour or so I played because the way to switch between the reticules was a rotating knob that had a soft lock on each reticule so the whole sight would wiggle left and right. On top of that, there were exposed wires that could get snagged on shit and the whole thing felt cheap.

It was barely adequate for laser tag, let alone mounting on a real weapon.
