1. TV shows need to be interesting. TV execs go out to find the most interesting people for their reality TV shows. The "most" interesting people are belligerent, stupid assholes. Which is why you get the retards from Sons of Guns, Doomsday Preppers, Moonshiners, Jersey Shore, etc.
2. They take their already belligerent, stupid assholes and pay them loadsa monies to ham it up on screen.
3. A lot of the supposed criminal acts are either entirely fabricated or grossly overblown, but because the people are "famous" they get railroaded in the court of public opinion. Notice how very few of these supposed criminals have an actual criminal conviction?
4. For every shitheel portrayed on TV you have several good-hearted people portrayed on TV. Like Duck Dynasty, pretty much everyone from Filthy Riches, etc.
