Sup k, i want create a definitive list of fuddlore. Is there a list somewhere already that you know of? If not, insert fuddlore here.

Pic unrelated
>>
>>33391736
Fudd lore is an ever evolving field, many fudds have died and then another generation have become the new fudds, in about 40 years mall ninja faggotry will be the new fuddlore.

Therefore fuddlore can never be properly defined and a list can't be definitively made.
>>
>>33391761
Lets make a comprehensive list then, for shits and giggles

It's a pretty pervasive myth in fuddlore.
>Clean the barrel after every shot for the first 10 shots and then after every second shot up to the 20th shot. Some hard-cores recommend cleaning the barrel after each of the first five shots and after every five shots for the next 50 shots.

It's a breeding ground for fudds. Imagine people that have never even looked at a gun or equipment are suddenly handling these everyday. They think that makes them experts, in their eyes and also in the eyes of their peers. But just because you drive a car everyday doesn't mean you have an deeper understanding of the technology behind it.

This is actually partially true. The engine output is limited by the governor, in order to preserve life. In an all-out war, where vehicle life is measured in days not years, that matters a whole lot less. So you can tune down the govenor. IIRC the AGT-1500 can easily put out 1800 HP with little ill effects and the transmission can handle that.

Actually, with factory new precision barrels there is a break in period. Straight from the factory there can be some rough cuts in the chamber and/or rifling that results in microscopic steelshards along the barrel length. You dont -have- to clean it every shot but if you let it build up you will have a significantly harder time cleaning it out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjbnYm_HmXg

Now, claiming that you need to do this with your deer rifle that will -never- be shot at distances longer than 150yards is fuddlore.
Only long range shooters with expensive precision barrels bother with it today though. I'd probably bother with it if i spent 900 dollars on a precision barrel too.

Youre only part right. Gcs are about people including noncombatants. There is a bullshit thing called international common law that makes shit law even if you didnt sign on. I still cant wrap my head around it, but went 10 rounds with my jd professor in my law class recently over the issue.

My .02 on the breaking in of the barrel is this: the cleaning is done because of the initial rounds dig into the barrel more and cause small particulants that could affect the barrel if not removed. Not sure how exact that is but i have noticed how a rifle hits its groove after a while and getsmore accurate.

I heard this from a guy who fought on Iwo Jima when helping at the local VA, is it bullshit after all?
>>
>>33401891
No, it's bullshit fudd lore. You can't hear a garand ping over several hundred rounds of gunfire and artillery going off

Knocking the clip to make a noise may have been a novelty idea, but it sure as shit didn't offer any battlefield advantagr
>>
>>33401915
Just because it's a stupid idea, doesn't mean people didn't do it.

Fucking hell, there is some truth to this but only in the sense that they remove limiters but jesus christ, the whole engine?
>>

>>

Not all battlefield noise is continuous. Confirmed for not being in combat.
>>

And a garand ping isn't audible over a significant distance you mongoloid. Of course at least one dipshit has to take up residence in the fuddlore thread

>>33401925
True, but more likely someone spread the bullshit story around and all the grunts and leathernecks ate that shit up
>>
>>33401967
The "limiter" on turbines and diesels is either a mechanical or electronic adjustment, not a part to be "removed".

Ancient petrol engines which may have had vacuum governors would be an exception since an old style vacuum governor actuates a separate throttle plate.

I paid for a lifetime membership to the NRA that I regret more and more each time they call me asking for more money every other week. Fuck the NRA, they throw "assault weapons" under the bus whenever they think it'll save hunting rifles and shotguns from being regulated.

cant trust korean, china, or ruski ammo. That stuff is really dirty and corrosive and will jam up your guns. It's just bad quality. Heard about this stuff prvi partizan, bad stuff I've heard!!!
>>
>>33394038
Yes, it's possible. I'm immune to it too.
The potential myth about it I heard is that I'm from Wisconsin so all the manure and farm chemicals and shit around here makes us immune, which I think is total bullshit.
>>
>>33393098

This is soccer mom lore, not fudd lore. Whatever else you want to say about them, they know about hunting, and they'll probably say shit like

>if you miss the deer with the first shot, you don't need a semi auto, you need to learn how to shoot
>5.56 is a puny varmint round that isn't worth a damn
>>
>>33402147

Vaccination was discovered when it was observed that farmers who got cowpox at some point in their lives were immune to smallpox. So it wasn't the chemicals or manure, it was the cows. Of course, who gets cowpox nowadays, even in Wisconsin?

I don't buy it. If a copper jacketed lead slug traveling at ~3000FPS isn't going to deburr a new barrel, a patch with some Hoppe's No. 9 and RemOil isn't going to do shit.

There also exist "break-in rounds" which are basically just regular FMJ's coated in lapping compound. Fuck that, I'll stay away from the ballistic sandpaper.

I've literally seen our sniper shoot the brains (quite literally) out of a driver at a checkpoint because he wouldn't stop. I seriously have no idea how people this stupid are still alive.

And what about the L115? That canadian shot a mile and a half, through a wall, and from mountain top to mountain top JUST to shoot a guy behind a wall. The L115 is considered an anti-material rifle.

Who comes up with this shit and then spreads it?
>>
>>33392584
You should do this for precision single point cut rifle barrels. Think of the bullet as lapping the barrel and you're just wiping out the chips after the lapping is done.

It can help on other brand new barrels, but isn't as important

The Barret misconception comes from the fact that it's issued as an AM rifle and has been sometimes pressed into sniper usage. Fudds and grunts who don't understand the difference between the two think this makes the Barret some super seekret speshul rifle

>>
>>33402119
It depends on the revolver itself. I don't on SAA style revolvers because the hammer just whacks into the frame. But newer revolvers with the firing pin separate from the channel are perfectly ok. But always ask first if it's not your gun. Also never spin the cylinder and snap it back in

They realized giving everyone .308 or .30-06 battle rifles with ~800 yard effective ranges and AP ammo that could go through rifle plate doesn't make much sense when your enemies don't wear body armor and most engagements take place under 300 yards with thousands of rounds expended per dead enemy.

Thank the Lord that is wrong.

> little brother is at a checkpoint in Samarra (like '09, the Triangle of Death has long since calmed down)
> stop a car with a pair of guys in it, nothing special going on
> massive VBE goes off somewhere else in town
> one of the guys manning the checkpoint loses his shit
> just gun up, and fires a 40mm HE into the side of the car
> from like 5 feet away
> everyone else just freezes and goes oh fuck
> until they realize he is freaking out and reloading
> before anyone can get to him, he pulls up and fires another grenade into the side of the car
> he gets tackled
> the rest of the squad (and the poor hadjis in the car) collectively shitting themselves and thanking gods of various names that whoever made the fuzes in those grenades wasn't slacking that day

Supposedly after that incident orders went out for the entire brigade that 40mm ammo was not to be carried at checkpoints, but kept in the shacks or vehicles.
