As someone who is not really familiar with surplus firearms, why are American weapons (M1 Carbine, Garand, etc) so goddamn expensive? I can find any other nation's surplus weapons for considerably less.

The reason nuggets are so cheap is because the soviet union and its satellites collapsed, flooding the market with them.

So basically for this to happen to the garand, the US govt has to collapse and be replaced by any number of successor states.

this is utterly false. The CMP recieves its guns through the Army. Only guns that get returned to the army were leased to other countries. The korean guns were PURCHASED. They actually offered to sell them to the CMP but the CMP declined because they were in such bad shape. If the guns come back from korea they will be billboard import marked and will be sold by century to resellers
