If you're really into cloning go for it, but what I've learned from doing an M4gery and then the above upper (with socom profile barrel) is that commercial AR15 development really is literally decades ahead of what the Army is stuck with.

I'm building a new upper soon if FedEx manages to somehow not destroy my barrel, and I think it will be the last and only AR15 upper I own, and it's not a clone in any way.
