Lets see those new stamps rolling in boys! My Ti-Rant 45 just got approved this morning. Check cashed June 9.

Pretty excited to take it out and try it.

Yikes! Did you form 1 efile? Those are ahead of Form 4s. I would call the ATF and ask about it
>>
>>33382144
Neat. Just curious, if you're already going through the NFA process for that, why did you choose to go with the super shorty instead of like an SBRd 870 or double barrel?

>>33382209
9mm. PSA colt pattern lower, LWRC UCIW stock, 5.5" barrel, Ergo Z-float rail, Troy BUIS, Aero upper with no FA.

With the can on it, there is just under a half inch of space between the can and rail. I would like to get my barrel chopped down to 5.1" and rethreaded. 5" would be just barely too short and wouldnt allow the can to thread fully on.
>>
Why do short barrels require tax stamps and paperwork? What makes them special?

Yup, e file. one is for a 45 acp mauser conversion that the ATF actually emailed me about requesting more info several months back. the other is just another stripped lower so meh.

>>33382265
This was a few items in and it was an impulse buy. The shop had it for 750$ so I bought it. They also had a spas 12 with a hook for 1K at the time so I fucked up.

They can be concealed easily, because Jamal can't get a hacksaw and chop his barrel down

The feds couldn't pin anything on the mafia in the 20s and 30s so they came up with the NFA so they could arrest them on bullshit.

The NFA was originally going to regulate ALL handguns. But Congress is gonna do what congress is gonna do and the bill somehow wound up sparing pistols but regulating short barrel rifles and shotguns. I have no idea how that compromise came about.

Neat. What did they ask about? Just clarifying that it is in fact a short barreled mauser in .45?
>i forgot to register a stripped lower as an SBR before 41f

Damn, yeah that SPAS would have been cool just to have. The shop I went into to pick up my can was super cool, had enfields, arsenals, chinese AKs, a 1919 and M2 sitting on the floor, 4 different Lugers, tons of shit.

I would have bought something right then and there because that shop was selling what I was into, plus the transfer was free because it was a silencershop Powered dealer.
>$9999 for luger (yes, 4 digits)
>$900 for draco
>$2000 for BSA enfield No1 in good condition
>$1400 for some french MAS, unsure of variant
>$2500 for SVT-40
>$650ish SKS'
>$3000+ M1 Garands

I stopped looking at prices after that because I knew nothing interesting was affordable.
I wish my LGS sold cool guns at real prices

They just wanted pics of the gun and the serial. stripped PSA lower comes through, no problem. But when you pick 'other' as manufacture, and 45 acp bolt action people start to wonder....they just wanted photos of the serial and the gun. But since it hasnt come back yet I guess they wanted something else lol

OP here.
Go for the Evo.

The folding stock on the VZ-61 wriggles like crazy due to the small dovetail adapter plate that has to be installed to allow the stock to mount. The original military VZ-61s had the dovetail cut directly out of the rear of the receiver, which lets the stock rest in the little nook on the bottom of the receiver. The adapter plate pushes the stock out about 1/4" too far and it has nothing to rest on so it wriggles. It's a neat uncommon little gun but honestly not worth the stamp. If you really want one for that A E S T H E T I C, I'd say save the $200 and just weld the stock closed. They're awesome little pistols, super accurate and easy to shoot, but as a semi auto PCC, they're trash.
>>
>>33382332
It wasn't really a compromise
>we're regulating pistols
>well we may as well add short barreled rifles and short barreled shotguns since they're basically pistols and we don't want any loopholes for pistol ownership
>wait we need to take pistols off the bill or it won't pass?
>ok, keep SBRs and SBSs on it though fuck those guns

Out of curiosity, what aftermarket does the new scorpion have besides OEM replacement parts, a right-side-delete for the safety, and an AR buffer tube adaptor?

AFAIK the factory SMG stock is still unavailable outside the Czech Republic, there are no replacement handguards/trigger groups/pistol grips/barrels available for it other than OEM, and they're the sole provider of mags?

>>
>>33382613
Well I just thought of something that should've occurred to me a while ago.

Instead of buying the Evo "pistol" and paying to put a (potentially quite expensive) stock setup on it, buy the carbine and simply install the $190 OEM "pistol" barrel once your stamp comes back. That way you get the good stock and mlok handguard out the gate.

Especially since you should be able to get at least $50 out of your (assumedly) used carbine barrel.

If you have the tools to replace a barrel and dont mind doing it, do it that way.

It would be cheaper to buy a pistol buffer tube though. If you buy a standard PSA lower parts kit, add a pistol buffer tube to your order as well. Its like $20 extra. That way you'll have your buttstock ready for when your stamp comes in

I actually think a lot of the play comes from the design of the locking mechanism itself. If you look a it, it is really grossly machined. If you were to refine how the stock locks into place and make that "tooth" actually fit in the stock most of the play would be eliminated.

Sorry for shitty pic. Only picture I have of the stock offhand.
>>
>>33385785
No, I thought that at first as well. However, my friend bought a parts kit that included the cut receiver and I tried two different folding stocks on the end stub of his receiver, and they both were rock solid. I put both the stocks onto mine and both wriggled. That was where I noticed the stock doesn't rest on the receiver with a semi auto using a dovetail adapter.

If I get brave enough, im going to mill out a small section of the back and weld the adapter plate into it so it sits at the same level as a real one.

See in this photo, the stock sits there. On mine, there are kind of two positions that the stock is at. There is all the way down and open, but it will push up a bit to a slightly less open position. That 2nd slightly less open position is where it is supposed to sit in the receiver. The stock is locked from wriggling up because it's already in the highest position it can be in while open; it can't wriggle down because it is resting in the receiver
>>
>>33385874
That's good to know. Then I wouldn't have to refinish it.

Also, what exactly am I looking at? An adapter plate for a different type of buttstock?

Nice, I regret not buying one of their titanium tubes. Now they're shut down.

What color are you coating it? I kinda like the raw titanium look
>>
>>33381904
What buffer tube/stock on the ar?
>>
>>33386140
i'm just going black. The can kinda looks cool like that, but it looks pretty gooft with just the muzzle brake. I'm a fan of the more low key look of just having it black.

A neat thing about the semiauto vz.61's is that they have no rate reducer. Which means they don't need a hollow, vertical grip screw. Which means you can do this. But I don't recommend it. But you could.

Form 1s nigga
You can do form 1s and form 4s sub 21.

The form 4s have to be private party. I.e. I can buy an sbr from a dude in this thread or make a suppressor but I cannot but any nfa items from a dealer.

Well a form 4 is a transfer form. Which is to buy from dealers or from individuals. Sub 21 you are g2g to buy from individuals but dealers are no go.
Form 1 is to make nfa items which you can do after you turn 18.

how do NFA items work exactly? say I want to sbr an evo

>buy pistol

do I have it right?

Form 1 process would be
>buy pistol
>take possession and shoot it
>submit forms
>wait a long time
>get approval
>get it engraved
>attach stock
You must have your trust name and city, state engraved on your form1'd item
>>

Yeah, he kind of is. I spoke to a girl there last week and somewhat calmed my nerves to hear them seeming legit. As long as I get my can (legally), I'll be happy. The prices were pretty nice.

You must engrave the trust name + city, state of manufacture onto the receiver. Ex:
"XYZ Revocable Living Trust
Hicksville, MD"
>what if I move?
I am not a lawyer but I have filed the change of address forms before and they never asked me to update the engraving. Id assume updating the engraving isnt a thing but ymmv.

NFA engraving is easy, search your local area and gun forms. Expect to pay $20-$50 locally and have it done in about an hour or leave it there for a day. My AR has it near the trigger pins, my mp5 has it near the pack on it and my krink has it under the trigger guard. As long as its to legal dept, "readily visible" and size you are good to go.
>>33386877
My LGS/Range has an omega 9k for $800 which is about the same as JBT once you factor in his extra $65 he charges ontop of the stamp. Also they let me play with it while I wait

>>
>>33386984
dude 1.5k on a 1911 is pretty expensive. RIA makes them super affordable and really top notch quality for a fraction of the price.

obvi the 1.5k one is going to feel better over all, but it should by no means be the bottom of the shelf version.

You can engrave preapproval if you want
Also
>>33386852
If you move you tell the atf but other than that no you do not update the engraving.

I saw one that was so beat up and corroded the owner parkerized the slide and still sold it for $800.

Also P5 is more pleasant to shoot.

We're no longer able to e-file, correct? I mailed off my form 1 with fingerprints for an 300 BLK SBR not too long ago. I already have a can for it.

Just wondering if there's some way to e-file and mail off prints separately. I'll probably be filing a form 4 in the not-too-distant future for pistol suppressor.

if you want other people to be able to posess items outside your immediate supervision it's still good. It's also good for inheritence. It's also good if you want to add people to the trust post filing.

>>33386891
Moving is irrelevant to the engraving. On a Form 1, you (or your trust) are the 'manufacturer' so you must engrave where it was 'manufactured.' I don't need to update the engraving on the suppressor I purchased, because that is where it was made. Same concept

>>33386984
>>33387028
There is a pretty significant difference between a RIA and a Sig 1911. My sig isnt a $1500 pistol, but it's definitely built better than an RIA. Yes,s RIAs are functional, but you're comparing a wasr to an Arsenal; a PSA to a BCM. The lower price option works, but there are nicer and better firearms
>>
>>33387936
If you have siblings or a wife, its a good idea. I have a trust with my brother on it and I will continue to file my NFA items under it because if I deploy or die or whatever, I want him to be able to take possession of them. Plus, I know how to do the NFA process so if he wants a can I can just get it for him since we're both on the trust.
