Ok, aside from part compatibility clusterfuck. What other issues pop up with the AR10 or the AR in 308?
Also, is rule of thumb to get matching barrel and BCG?
Go prebuilt. Building an AR10 just isn't worth it.

So does Mega Arms make a good one?
>>33373643
M&P10s and those Windhams are pretty good value for money.
>>33373643
The only real issue is getting DPMS(SR25) patter vs Armalite. Just stick with DPMS(SR25) pattern parts and you are fine.
>>33373833
Nigga what? Its not that hard. On my second build now.
>>33373833
How are sig 716s? they look decent enough and the price point is pretty attractive.
>>33373833
>>33374459
The best Mega is the one you build.
>>33373833
Despite your dubs, you are retarded.
DPMS GII Recon is just about the best bang for your buck at the moment.
M&P 10 is fair but offers fewer options.
Aero makes good lowers and uppers, but everything else is shit on their guns. Only do this if you want to build from the ground up on one of their M5s. Prepare for a headache.
PSA is a 100% crapshoot on parts compatibility and overall quality for their Gen2 guns.
Mega is fairly expensive and armalite pattern (fewer aftermarket options).
POF's piston 308 ARs are pricey but they're supposedly very nice. Forget about changing handguards or barrels though.
Ruger SR-762 is front heavy and the forend is all proprietary shit.
Literally everything else worth mentioning is either proprietary, overpriced, garbage, or a literally-who.

>Mega is fairly expensive and armalite pattern (fewer aftermarket options).
Wrong
http://www.megaarms.com/maten/compatibility/
Mega can be built on Armalite or SR25/DPMS pattern. It just depends on what barrel/extension and BCG you buy. If you're going to instruct someone on something as important as not fucking up a gun do your research.

Thanks for the tip.
Do you see any issue with the rest though?
>>33373643
416 a shit. M4 is best raifu.
I bought my receiver set from Matrix Arms, who makes the parts for the Ruger762's.
I'm currently in the process of building, but idk what length of barrel I should get, as well as what hand guard.
Can't go lower than 16" because Commiefornia, but I honestly might just do an 18"
>>33376432
>>33376468
thank you very much.
I guess other than some research and sticking with matching set of lower/upper and barrel/bolt, it's not THAT fucking nightmarish as many seem to allude it as.
I really want a SCAR 17, but the price is just stupid, especially as I've watched it go higher and higher year by year. Now my battle rifle comes down to a not-SR25-level-but-still-not-shit AR in 308 or a PTR.
>>33376674
but what is the purpose? if you just want something to throw .308 good and never quit get the PTR. If you want some precision get the 308 AR.
>>33376732
I'll probably go with the PTR, I want to experience that slap.
>>33376764
Not the same anon.
But, I want to say, I love my PTR but I'm still building a AR 308. I'm pretty much going Aero since it's kind of the best of the poor fag ARs. A bit heavy though.
>>33376304
>Look up the source to that image
>farting, scat, smell, urination
What the fuck
>>33376674
>pressure switch in that location
>Every using that way to grip your rifle
>>33376674
What makes a SR-25 so much better than everything else?
>>33377295
Nothing, you are paying for brand name.
>>33377295
a couple features that improve on things nobody asked for like the proprietary rounded locking logs which last longer.. bolts are cheap and can be predictably replaced
most of it is KAC accessories that come w/ the rifle
What am I to do with a 16 inch 308 ar10 with carbine stock?
Put a scope on it and DMR?
Clear houses with 308?
I'm stumped what they're for if you dont accurate it and put a can on it.
>>33377493
DMR it, most special forces are switching to using 16 inch .308 rifles for dmr because they found out the difference between 16 inch and 20 inch is worth the lose in weight.
>>33376994
What's wrong with aero? Their build quality is fantastic and they make parts for half the industry
