:Looks like more proprietary shit. I think I'd rather get the DPMS.

Most parts can swap with a ar15
>>
>>33372840
plenty of fish makes ARs now? I wonder if they're like the users of their site: old, pathetic, and fat.

everything about this rifle is ugly and shitty.

What's wrong with piston
>>
>>33373174
you're paying more for a system that weighs more, beats the fuck out of you buffer tube and does all kinda of nasty shit due to a thing called carrier tilt

there are no rails to guide the bolt carrier group on a ar15. every rifle designed with a piston in mind (fal, ak, m249, m240, etc) have rails to stop carrier tilt. so that's gonna cause problems

there is absolutely nothing wrong with a di system, this piston system means more money, more wear, more weight (also if it's a long stroke piston, less accurate due to the reciprocating mass directly above your barrel) in exchange for being slightly easier to clean. DI dumps a lot of carbon into your rifle. It might suck, but it will not stop your rifle from functioning.

And the rest have zero 3rd party support. I don't mind having proprietary parts as long as substitutes exist.

From a glance, that's another proprietary barrel, rail, barrel nut, upper, lower, magazine release, probably bolt release too. And a proprietary bolt, BCG, and firing pin. Even the pistol grip radius is certainly not standard geometry.

So you can use a stock AR-15 charging handle. Big whoop. AR-308-length exists and works on most 308 patterns. Prices are close too.
>>
>>33372840

Damn, a 7lbs .308 gas gun. Nice.

Any problems with them using a .223 bolt carrier for the larger cartridge?
>>
>>33373279
This post is spot on.
>>
>>33372840
Nope, nope, nope. There are no benefits worth the snow flake reciver redesign. This is a solution to having more money then brains.
>>
>>33372921

Did they finally start putting larger brass deflectors on their G2 rifles? I didn't enjoy the cases in my face very much when I shot one at the range.
>>
>>33373279
You have anti tilt buffers on there guns.
>>
>>33373363
>>33373443

Please, please do not turn this into another god damned DI/piston thread. We have them all the damn time, nothing new ever gets said, and it's boring as fuck.
>>
>>33373363
So you only buy ar 15s and glocks right?
>>
I looked up the msrp. just buy a fucking scar jesus
>>33373432

even more reason to get a scar

Is there a specific reason they made the upper so tall? It all looks like empty space to me.
>>
>>33373482

Scar for 2500 where?
>>
>>33373482
> Even more reason to get a scar

I already have an AR if I ever have delusions of grandeur and get to climb on a rooftop and defend my property. No way I'm paying 400% over a bolt gun for a 8lbs semi-auto in a caliber I only want for hunting. 150% is more reasonable though, especially if they can get the rifle down to 7lbs.
>>
>>33373529
But scars have piston and them be bad
>>
>>33373502
Room for a piston
>>
Reminder that a piston ar is a drop in mod, and not worth whatever the fuck you're paying for this.
>>
>>33373636
This is a di vs piston thread fag fuck off
>>
>>33373061
Well, then their target market is indeed /k/, or at least half of them. Rest are below 18.
>>
>>33372840

i bought a 20 inch 308 from POF 10 years ago, before the SCAR-17 or LMT MWS available, because I wanted a heavier 308 semi-auto that can do follow-up shots quickly. back then it was either that or a KAC. and fuck KAC for a bunch of reasons.

after many range sessions, still a solid 1 MOA gun, no signs of carrier tilt issues.

my two cents, i wouldn't buy it again since there are better options today for what i wanted, but its still a dependable, accurate gun.
>>
>>33373529
what? pof revolutions are $2600
scar 17s run $2600-$3000

and sure they can, by having a shitty pencil barrel.

and if weight is an issue, all the more reason not to get a piston system because that weighs more than di
>>
>>33373652
>>33373636
Yeah but you can drop in a piston... it's not a 'different rifle'.

>2.6k for a 1k rifle with a 300$ drop in
Get the fuck away from me.
>>
>>33373279
Things is, you might as well upgrade the entire gun if you're gonna get a piston. That means changing out everything or just making an entirely new one.

Also, pistons can fuck with barrel harmonics if you just put in with normal parts. What was a of sub MOA rifle is now getting 2.5
>>
>>33372840
If the magwell and trigger was forward a little bit/larger magazine length ways then it'd look better but visually it looks terrible.

Plus >$2700

Fuck that until some reviews appear.
>>
>>33372840

Barrel steel and production method?

If it's like most .308 ARs it's probably 4140 and cut or button rifled. I'd spend a little more for a SCAR. Or even more for a mr762 that I can dump cash into and turn into a G28 clone or CSASS clone if the rail ever makes it out into the public.
>>
>>33372840
for $2700..... not a chance in hell. imagine what you could build yourself
>>
>>33373459
I've not said a damn thing about DI vs piston. Frankly, I don't care so long as there's manufacturer support.

>>33373479
I simply prefer that I can get parts for guns I'm interested in. AR-like systems come with advantages and disadvantages. Having to source very specific proprietary gas rings when they wear out in a couple thousand rounds is a PITA. Same thing with replacing an extractor. Other aspects like ergonomics matter--what if I hate the rail they use? If I can find a replacement, maybe I can buy it and try something else. Then I can see about selling the original. But with a wholly proprietary rifle, who wants the stock rail but someone who can use it? And if they can use it, they probably already have one. OTOH, I can sell an AR-10 pattern handguard since there's dozens of models manufactured by Armalite and many custom builds too.

I've got 6 AR's built or in progress--half of them in 5.56, half in .308. I'd be interested in more if they did something better that mine don't do. A truly lightweight AR-308 would be cool--but I don't want to spend $2K+ when reasonable alternatives with better market support cost $1000 to $1500.

>retarded troll who doesn't realize people are only here to watch him made an ass out of himself
>oh boy

Remember when this was a meme?
>>
>>33374151
I assume you're limiting it to semiauto rifles, and even the S&W M&P-10 comes in at 7.71 pounds.
>>
>>33374194
That doesn't have a rail
>>
>>33374177
>watch him made
You sure gottem
>>
>>33373873
416 and 417 was sub moa with nato ammo in the norwegian tests.
>>33373279
bcg is bigger and and rides in buffertube.

nothing wrong with properly designed piston ARs, its just that theyre not worth the extra cost since the benefit is minimal in mil use. 0 in civilian use
>>
>>33374253
Pof says the gun is guaranteed to shoot moa
>>
>>33374251
Do you know how many podcasts im listening to right now, watching videos on my phone, 8 threads on /k/, moderating a video and chatroom channel and petting my cat? No I didn't think many.
>>33374227
????? So switch the standard hanguard out with a lighter front handguard that has rails and is even lighter...
>>
>>33374382
They don't make rails for it.
>>
>>33374382
Did your dildo fallout?
Glad to know the multitasker you are. So cool you must be so woke. Just call your mom down to help you out bud.
>>
>>33374253
>barrel harmonics if you just put in with normal parts

I suppose normal parts was vague. Parts tuned to gas tubes. If you're using parts meant to be used with a piston, go for it.
>>
>>33373517
They should start dropping under 3k soon I imagine, the 16s is already almost back to normal. 17s were able to be had new for ~2700 last May.
>>
>>33375531
Idk I think I'd rather have the weight saves of this. That was my guess too
>>
>>33375555

Yeah, fuck the proven reliability of the FN platform, let's jump on this new POS becuase it's .8lbs lighter.

Why not just build a lightweight AR10?
>>
>>33375568
Yeah agree that's why I'm going to do it
>>
so much butthurt in my this thread
>>
Did they cut costs by using a snowboard boot as a butt stock?
>>
>>33378020
Its all aftermarket on the rifle the stock and the grip are both from mission first tactical.
