I've been browsing gunbroker for a hex receiver m91/30 and they're all fucking laser etched on the left hand side of the receiver. Why is this? Why can't I find one that isn't etched?

That's not laser etching

Whatever it is, can I find one without it?
Import markings. That's the new legal serial number
>>33372493
ATF rules require the receiver to be marked at time of import with the model of firearm, country of origin, a new unique serial number, caliber, and the name of the importer.

thats the import mark. if you dont want one like that, youll have to seek one out that specifically says "no import marks"

I mean, if you go out of the country and get one, yeah. Bonus points if you smuggle it in up your ass.

So I can't find one without those stupid markings?
>>33372518
>can I find one without it?
Sure; it wasn't required until 2002.

Gotta hunt for them.

Thanks for the help, fellas

Most import mausers also have them. Makes sporterixong the front bridge for scope rings a hassle

Sorry man, don't know what else to tell you. You have to check for older imported ones because any ones imported in the last 15 years are gonna have the dot matrix.
Some have the import marks in a more inconspicuous area. I've seen them under the handguards or on the end of the barrel near the muzzle on some guns. I think the newest law is they must be visible and easy to find, but before that they could be hidden and even before that they didn't need to be on there at all.
