Sup /k/ommandos. I recently went on a binge of /k/ related movies from the 60s. Mostly spaghetti westerns but also just action films in general and a interesting thought came to mind. Why was the gun handling such shit back in those days? Its weird because during this time a majority of working age males have military experience due to the draft and of course the major wars of the period. Yet it wasn't until the late 90s that we started seeing proper firearms, which is counter intuitive because by this time many actors have zero military experience. Were WW2 and Nam vets just a bunch of slack jawed fudds?

It's a fucking western. Of course they're calling Colt Peacemakers and Winchester lever actions. What do you expect? Cowboys carrying Glocks? It's a wonder they didn't have more anachronisms than they did.

Trigger discipline and the fundamental safety rules weren't a thing back then like they are now.

I asked my dad once about trigger discipline in vietnam and he said it juat wasn't a thing.

>Trigger discipline
Trigger discipline is a stupid meme created by people who have never been in a gunfight.

Like who the fuck shoots this way? Even with that particular firearm and in that time. I just cannot imagine a real actual person being stupid enough to use a pistol in this fashion.

Are you serious, or just trying to goad answers out of imbeciles like me? Concepts like trigger discipline are relatively new since the 'tactical operator' craze since Gulf War I, and even things such as the two handed pistol stance we all know today were only perfected within the last 25 years or so.

And besides, would anyone really expect a cowboy from the 1860s to give a flying fuck about any of those things anyway?

It's called shooting from the hip.

they're just meant to be fun, quite sperging out
>>
>>33371742
No, retard, it's just common sense with a loaded firearm. If you know the firearm is unloaded it doesn't matter.
>>
>>33371757
No but I do expect people who do any shooting to want to effectively kill what they're shooting. Without trying to be tacticool it just makes sense that you're more likely to hit something shooting a pistol with two hands instead of one. Like I'm sure even back in 1860 that fact was apparent, how could it not be? And if it wasn't you would think the average asshole would learn after a few of his friends caught slugs to the face for shooting like stupid assholes.

>it's just common sense with a firearm

Not that guy, but if you've never been exposed to gun related media today, it would seem intuitive to keep your finger on the trigger to shoot more quickly. It's not necessarily a bad thing to practice td, but it's certainly a learned practice

Hey thief

Well, consider the fact that pistols were initially used in tandem with sabers by cavalry soldiers, and by their non-dominant hand at that. We take these modern techniques for granted, but they took 200 years to refine to the point they are at today
