I said this in another thread awhile ago but the ng is really full of fucking losers. I joined a few months ago and go to rsp every month (training for basic training) and it is full of people who couldn't get on a high-school ping pong team, much less join the fucking military. Whites are about %30 of the total recruits, most are very out of shape. We run 1 mile at a jog in the morning and they all struggle or fallout with a few exceptions. The women literally all fall out or literally fall in the run, taking out lines of guys.

They're civilians 28 days a month. They belong primarily to whichever state they're in, unlike the Reserves, so tracking things like weight/tape and PT scores is difficult.

Some units just DGAF about physical fitness, others are super strict about it. With no real oversight since it's the NG and not the regular Army or even the Army Reserves, the difference between the two can be...immense.

Further, getting separated from the National Guard is harder and more involved than it is from active duty. Couple this with the generally higher ages for each rank due to how hard it is to make rank (a spot has to be open, you *will not* be promoted just for meeting cutoff scores, and the only way for spots to open is for the higher ranking people to get promoted themselves/quit/die, which they tend to not do) and you end up with the 40yo SPC with a pot belly because he's fucking 40 and not 20. This is compounded even further when the senior leadership themselves are fat or routinely fail their PT tests, because all it takes is 1 call to IG to sink their careers if they try to outprocess a shitbag when they themselves are shitbags.

My "commander" was a full-bird female who was literally fucking round and never wore a uniform because they don't make XXXXXXL XXXS. And she was on the list for 1-star despite having not even taken a PT test since the 80's. For poor people it's often cheaper etdmore convenient to eat shitty food than it is good stuff. Throw in many people no longer know how to cook, or have not nearly an active enough lifestyle to justify their diet anymore I(aka the south) Add easy accessibility to fast food and you have this.

For example, I can get a burger, fries, nuggets, and a drink for $4.25 at Wendy's (and a free frosty with the keychain that's like $2 for a year)

Getting a healthy salad or any remotely healthy food on the go costs double. Hell you can buy bigass pizzas and shit for like $5 if you know how to watch the sales.

And on top of THAT, there's not a lot of incentive to be healthy and active. In my small southern town for example, there's no real bus system and the sidewalks suck, so usually people just drive everywhere. For fucks sake, people complain about a 2 minute walk from the commuters lot at my college to their classes, a 500 yard/meter walk at most.

This ties into all the other great stuff like not knowing how to clean your home, not knowing how to take care of pets/children and keep them out of trouble, how to act like a civilized human bring in public, etc.

Our generation is fucked beyond reckoning, it's not even a liberals vs conservatives issue or anything, we're all just lazy pieces of shit. We don't even care. I'm not one to even try to be a dick and "body shame" or whatever the hell it's called, but Jesus Christ if you're going to be fat by choice then you need to be held accountable for that. Drunks and smokers get all kinds of shit but if you're fat you're just the victim.

And before you ask, yeah I'm sure some people do have a legitimate medical reason for being fat that they can't help. Pretty sure not every fat person has that problem, or even most. Most just eat too much and are lazy.

Then you're part of the problem. This is coming from a guy that used to be fat as fuck (270lbs). I dropped down to 170 and then bulked up some muscle back to 200 which is where I'm at now.

Fat people need to be shamed every now and then. Contrary to popular belief, kissing someone's ass and giving them positive reinforcement doesn't always work. Yes, it is good to positively reinforce fat people and tell them good job when they actually accomplish something. It is not okay to pamper them like children and say "awwwww, it's okay that you're a morbidly obese fuck, you can work it off with proper diet and exercise!"

Fuck that. You need to let them know that they're fat. They're disgusting. They smell like shit and everyone hates them. Only then will they have the impetus to start their transformation.

I personally make it a habit to very loudly proclaim shit like "wow what smells like disgusting BO?" or "Jesus it smells like a whale beached ashore and died" or "it sounds like there's a jet engine taking off" whenever I'm next to a fat person in line or something and they're wheezing and smelling like shit. I try to be as passive aggressive as fuck with fat people as humanly possible.
