Need a bit of help figuring out the STG-58 I got a while back.
Metric magazines sit poorly and so low the bolt will smash against the inside of the receiver and push the bullet inside the brass.
Everything on the rifle says metric but the magazine cut looks fucking inch pattern.
Anyone ever see this before?
>>33361113
change the taper on the feed ramps.
>>33361263
A bit of grinding I assume?
Measure it, geez. dumbass. Insert mag, no bolt, run a round with your finger see what's going on, if it's too low, then it's the mag. if the round is hitting ramp or off center, it's the mag.the feed lips should strip the round off cleanly without any deviation. most issues are mag related. buy an inch mag to see what the differances are. Also probable the mag well is cut wrong.
>>33361322
>probable the mag well is cut wrong.
I'm incline to agree.

The cut is at least.
So it could be that some jackass built the STG on a gear Imbel receiver didn't have metric mags so cut the receiver for inch mags.
>>33361113
where did you get it? because that's an inch cut lower...
also why is your shit covered in vaseline
>>33361433
cut looks too clean and is also parked so I doubt it
>>33361437
Local tacticool gun store.
>>33361449
Well it's single post front sights. Also I wasn't aware Imbel made inch pattern receivers.
>>33361263
DO NOT FICKING DO THIS
>>33361113
Looks like you have one of the Century frankenfals. This is common as hell, just use inch mags.
>>33361463
century l1a1 sporter?
>>33361494
Did century use PAC marked receivers?
>>33361504
Possible. BCG and Bolt are Austrian and the barrel is STEYR
Receiver in question.
>>33361511
Yeah, they did. PAC didn't build any FALs, but lots of places picked up their receivers.
>>33361511
Anon, you are going to need to tell us all the markings on the gun and what part they show up on. Pics too if possible.
Century was a company notorious for making frankenfals out of mismatched inch/metric parts that could cause problems ranging from mag wobble to explosion.
The more we know, the more we can help. Try using an inch mag, but don't grind down the feed ramps. You might just have a mismatched inch upper and metric lower. If so, you can buy a new inch lower and/or metric upper and have 2 fals or just sell one.
Again; Markings, by part.
>>33361548
Well I like the way the STG-58 looks I'll just figure out a way to make it look more accurate. For now I'll order an inch mag to see if it works.
>>33361572
BCG and bolt are marked Austrian.
Barrel is STEYR.
Receiver is Imbel.
Already put 140 rounds through her and no real issues aside from the mag sitting too low.
>>33361537
Looks like you might have an inch lower. Use an inch mag and see if it seats right in the lower. If it does, you need a new metric lower. DSA sells them.
>>33361598
Don't have one. No one around my area sells anything FAL anyways. I'll just order and have it express shipped.
>>33361588
Whats the lower? Markings for safety?
>>33361610
Sounds good, thats what I would do. Just don't do anything crazy like dremel it. Imbel receivers are quite sought after and known for their quality, so bubba'ing it would be criminal.
>>33361614
S and E
With what I think is Jew rune above trigger. Pistol grip is shite.
>>33361655
No wait I'm a moron. It's an Austrian lower. So yeah it's a century kit bash.
>>33361655
Imbel lowers are marked S-R-A uncolored
Israeli have Hebrew markings in red and white
G1's have S-EF-D in red and white paint
STG58's have S-E-D either unpainted or in red and white
Inch lowers usually are marked S-R-A in white; has very distinctive type-script from the Imbel ver. Is very large and looks like it was handwritten almost.
So i'd guess you have an austrian STG lower? Dunno though. Can we get a pic of the nut that locks the upper and lower?
>>33361806
If it was century it would say century. More likely its a kitbash done by a gunsmith on a Pac Arms import upper with an austrian kit.
Does the mag wobble. Does it look like the locking lug area has been dremeled or hand tooled. Or is the mag perhaps inch?
>>33361818
I thought the STG was metric.
>>33361841
Wobbles and sits low like meth head.
>>33361845
Kek I meant IN the gun. Sometimes yokels would fuck with their locking nuts in fudd ass ways to help mate mixed race uppers and lowers. Yours looks fine and prob isnt the issue tho lol.
The stg IS metric. So good news. You have a metric upper and lower.
Only other thing I can think of is that the locking lug seat in the lower reciever has been dremeled to accept inch mags better or some other shit.
If it's not that, im saying its the mags. An inch lower and upper should work fine. There isnt any gunsmithing to it. They screw together and are based on common tooling. There isnt any headspacing or ejection or cycle issues, its just a feeding issue.
I have 9 different milsurp mags for my STG. Four or five are hot dogshit and never feed right, and the others are flawless. My buddies DSA FAL is the same way. No overlap. Some mags just don't like some FALs insofar as I can tell.
If you continue to have problems, Arizona Response Systems can do more for you than I can.
>>33361944
The mags are a DSA and Austrian surplus. Both metric and all have the same issue of the mag sitting too low.
The mag catch is new DSA the bolt hold open is missing the bar that makes it hold open after last round is fired.
I'm tempted to say some jack ass demeled the receiver to accept the inch mags.
What pictures do you need?
>>33362006
magwell upskirt so i can see her butthole
>>33362015
Alright one without BCG and dust cover.
>>33362015
This, provide lewd pics of her, pretty please, Anon-kun?
>>33362044
And one with BCG and dust cover on.
>>33362044
Ok, well I don't see anything wrong here either, unless the mag catch isn't engaging upwards and holding it in, but im pretty sure you would notice the mag almost falling out.
Only other thing I can think of is that the space for the lug is too low. Pic of her front hole, and maybe one like OP pic with mag in?
>>33362099
Czechem.
I wasn't super clear. The front lug hole in the magwell

Who made your rifle?
>>33362099

>>33362132
Good question. Wish I knew.
>>33362148
Pic 2
>>33362156
Pic 3 pushing up on the mag to make it flush.
>>33362156
I think its a trick of the angle but in pic 2 it looks like its seated higher.
Yeah thats low. The edge of the mags front should be seated in line with the chamfers.
Take pic 1 again without the mag in. Make sure we can see the little divot in the magwell right under the chamfers.
>>33362282
Divet? It's a damn slot.
As shown earlier but here's a new pic.
>>33362044
Could it be the denting that could be fucking with the magazine position? (In red, dunno if the one in yellow is lighting
>>33362156
>Sticking a screw driver in her magazine
l-lewd
>>33362308
I doubt it. The mag leans forward and down not back and low.
>>33362302
Never seen a slot before...
>>33362353
Slot is for INCH mags right?
>>33362179
This is correcto. Yep, your magwell is prolapsed. I believe it can be fixed. I am not a gunsmith tho, Gunplumber on FAL files or Arizona response systems would know how to fix it and do it for you.
This has happened before and will happen again. Many such cases.
>>33362416
So some dumbass bubba fudd had inch mags and cut into the receiver to make them work instead of buying more mags?
>>33362384
Yeah but on an imbel, how did this git here?
Some fucknut dremeled it to make it compatible with inch mags.
>>33362454
>Bubba
>knowing what they're doing
pick one
>>33362458
So the good news is you don't need a new receiver, and it could have been much much worse. The feed ramps havent been dremeled and its all metric, so the expensive fixes are out the window. Bet you can get this fixed for under $100. Call Arizona Response Systems. Can't recommend them enough for FAL's. Their shipping is $15 i think and using SMG.com you can get $20 shipping, and I doubt he would charge much to rebuild the slot with a TIG and rebore the hole if hes willing to do it.
If not, check on FAL files. Someone might be willing to.
>>33362595
Thanks. It's frustrating but like you said it doesn't compromise the rifles safety thank the /k/ube.
>>33361113
I had a similar issue. I welded a small bead in the center of the mag well, just below the mag catch ledge so i could use either inch or metric mags.
>>33362693
Pics?
>>33362693
Looks like shit but works fine.
>>33362766
Yeah this is essentially what a gunsmith would do to fix yours but it wouldnt look like a nigger did it lol.
Ideally you would fill the slot with TIG or something and then re-bore it properly.
>>33362766
Also you don't need a slot, just the little divot.
Checked btw.
>>33362835
I'll keep that in mind.
>>33362858
>>33362835
Lol looking back on it, it was a dumb idea. I get so manic when a gun i like isn't reliable. I may replace the whole receiver someday.
If you notice, it has the dreaded Century "unibrow" feed ramp which took days of work to make it even function.
>>33362595
yeah, Mark knows his shit.
anyone know where I could get a three position selector? Like... anyone? I just want one for the third position cause it tickles my autism.
>>33363816
http://www.arizonaresponsesystems.com/store/store-fal-lower/store-fal-lower.html
http://www.e-sarcoinc.com/fal.aspx
>>33363816
FYI it might violate the NFA. No fucking clue tho. Do your research.
>>33363988
the only thing on the FAL that actually classifies it as a machine gun ever is A) having a safety sear installed, or B) having a full auto ejector block installed on a receiver later than FN 1970's imports by browning. all other full auto parts are free game except when you really wanna be on the safe side, in which case stick to the type c selector or you can fill in the shaft a bit on the type a. Thanks for the response.
>>33364212
Right cuz the ATF doesn't change it's mind at random.
>>33361113
>that machining
>that lack of finishing
What the shit?
>>33362595
Gunplumber is pretty swamped with work. He had a three month wait time for work last month.
>>33361113
people took metric receivers and cut the inch slot so they could use both mags.
some fucked it up, or only had inch mags and not metric ones.
