If i wanted to invade my own country, i would probably come from the east, and either
A: take Brisbane (east most city) and work down the coast (taking the capital city in the south east)

or take Melbourne (above Tasmania, the island) and then work up, again taking the capital

this assumes of course that i can manage to get a beachhead, and then hopefully keep control of the surrounding waters
