They all look the same. Any riced out bullshit like this >>33354294 is a answer looking for a question. You started with a good beginner handgun and stayed there, it's alright as long as you know it.

literally just a 80% Glock with a Surefire.

>>33354311
>good beginner handgun
I love this meme. There's no such thing as a beginner handgun. They all do the same shit, buy one and keep shooting it until you're so good you can do it drunk. You don't reach level 5 with handguns after grinding targets for XP with your Glock then swap loadouts to a tiger stripe Deagle brand Deagle. A fucking $200 Romanian Makarov is just about as good as a four large custom 1911 if you're a normal human being and not doing ImPractical Shooting Competition bullshit.
>>
>>33354311
I guess the guys in MARSOC are just beginners...
>>
>>33354376
At shooting handguns? Absolutely.

This is what you sound like.

Totally unrelated but MARSOC is a shit unit.
>>
>>33354311
If it's only for beginners then why did SOCOM drop their sigs for glocks? Shouldn't they have started with glocks and moved on to the more advanced sigs?
>>
>>33354393
They put all their experience points into rifles, that's why they're adopting a .300 blackout PDW.

That's unfortunately how it is. Sidearms have always been an afterthought to militaries.
>>
Where did the idea of sidearms adopted by military units being good come from? In all honesty they'll probably use them once a year for qualls.

I'm assuming 9mm here and either G19 or G43 would probably work for you.

I'm about 150lbs and 5'9 and I have a G17 but I don't CC this one, I CC my MP Shield. At the time G43 wasn't even out but I probably would've considered a G19 for either IWB or the MP Shield that I ended up with.

I suppose G26, G19, G43 would be a reasonable CCW based on that person's inquiry. G17, G34 probably is a tad bit too long for his frame / weight.

Get a shot timer app. Practice drawing and getting a shot off on target, then maybe double taps, repeat, get your time down. Improve.
>>
>>33355474

Probably responding to a troll, but the ones I have picked up from friends as a good start to keep from making bad habits in shooting involve getting comfortable with pulling the gun out, pulling back the slide ("did you remember to leave one in the chamber? better to drop a bullet than be surprised and get shit on"), and assuming a solid shooting stance all in one go (this can be practiced at home but shooting ranges {indoor ones in particular} are a good place to help adjust the limbic system in your brain to doing this in a stressful environment), then deliberately placing shots into a good zone with both eyes open. I like the "aim with your thumbs" technique just because I am a neurology nerd and its fun taking advantage of the cerebellum's intimate connections with and ability to generate highly choreographed interaction between eyes and body, and is the single most effective error-correction CNS structure.

This makes the most sense to me personally because if someone is coming at me in some direction I need to be able to accommodate that circumstance and not pretend like I can take time to look down the sight and breath out while I squeeze the trigger with specifically the middle of my right pointer finger (yeah, this part is a joke, but some of the mall ninjas seem to think you have V.A.T.S. in real life or something).

So, pseudo-simulations with acclimation drills.

I have the option of getting a cheap used glock 35 in 40 short and weak with a bunch of mags and kit. Should I do it and get a 9mm conversion barrel?
>>
>>33355744
No, bc when I started I planned on only doing the raised pebbled sections, and changed the plan after starting. You can't notice it hardly at all on the black frame.
But you can kinda sorta see it at some angles when I did another fde frame, it's more obvious on it, than the black.
In hindsight, I'd flatten it out with a dremel.
>>

No.
Do it and get a .357 sig conversion barrel instead.

She does like my 75 compact, shoots well with bit complains about the weight. Theres only one LGS with a range in my area and they aren't a cz dealer so we couldn't try the p07. We rented a 19, 26, 42, 43, xds 9mm, shield, tp9 and something else. She like the 19 the best and shot the best with it. She has pretty long fingers for a gril so I can see why she didn't like the 42 or 43 that much.

Just a weird question, but how are you getting an "Austria" stamp Glock in the US? or are you one of our /k/ommandos in Europe?

Insofar as I know there are no differences in build quality or procedure, but I want to represent my Kraut heritage.

Oh and because they tend to sit in the same price range, is there any tangible difference between a full sized Sig Sauer RX polymer frame striker pistol and say, a glock 34 MOS other than "muh aesthetics"? There is a gunshow in town and I was considering taking a break from studying to go look at the Fudds and check out some RMRs if they have em.
>>
>>33358047
Older "Austrian" stamped Glocks had a tennifer finish applied (Was not done on USA made glocks due to EPA). But these were Gen2 and early Gen 3 models. All Gen 4 and most Gen 3s have a non tennifer finish. There have been reports of Glock 42 and Glock 43s having rust issues, but as far as I know this hasn't spread to other Glocks made in the USA.

You can easily get Glocks still labeled "Austria" they import them fairly frequently and are at most gun stores. In my area austrian glocks are sold more than USA made glocks. Glock 34 has a long barrel and slide than a Sig P320 RX.

I really want a Glock 32. They are pretty much the same size as the glock 19, right? I'd imagine a lot of the aftermarket G19 stuff will fit right on the 32?

I have a glock 29 and I know I can easily switch it to .357 sig for $120. But the 32 is slimmer and a bit more sensible to CC (for me, I know guys carry Glock 29s just fine).

Plus the 32 is fucking neat cause it says .357 on the slide.

A soon to be dead caliber for sure. A solution to a problem no one had.

They only make certain glocks in the USA. The very popular ones.

Most of them (model-wise) are still made in Austria and imported.

Glock 29/30 are definitely bigger than the 9mm, .357sig and .40 cailber subcompacts. They are closer in dimensions to a compact glock 19/23/32.

No, Glock is a beginner handgun. It's the "I don't know anything about guns and don't want to learn gun."

If someone walks into a gun store and wants "a gun" or "a gun for self defense" they're going to sell you a Glock.
>>
>>33354393
Because they're cheaper you water-wings retard
>>
Glocks are perfection, but you can make your Glock more perfect with the following steps.

1. The grip sucks, so swap your grip out for a Lone Wolf grip.
2. Even this is not grippy enough, so use a soldering iron to literally melt your gun so you can hold onto it.
3. The Glock is unbalanced, so you're either going to want to swap your slide for a 3rd party one or get someone to machine some cuts into it.
4. The barrel needs work and their rifling is atypical, so go ahead and swap that out for an aftermarket barrel too.
5. Next, all you have to do is send it to a gunsmith and have them do a trigger job on it to get that trigger to pull nicely.
6. Finally, just throw a new magazine plate on your mags to increase the size of your grip and you've got yourself PERFECTION.

I get that this post is parody, but it's still worth mentioning that there are people who unironically believe this kind of thing.

So many of the tactifag mall ninjas on /k/ insist on "improving" their Glock with aftermarket parts of dubious quality and function, and then labor under the delusion that the "upgrades" that they've purchased are necessary for the gun to function well. Meanwhile, the professionals who actually use their guns for something other than posting pictures on the internet don't do anything to their guns beyond maybe putting a light on them.
>>
>>33362429
This.

I took my pistol smithing classes from a guy that was an AMU armorer and worked for Team Glock in the USPSA circuit. Their Glocks contained *zero* Glock parts and *zero* Glock-approved aftermarket parts. In fact most of them didn't even superficially resemble a Glock.
>fully custom aluminum alloy frame that took STI hicap mags
>fully custom steel slide with barrel bushing modification
>semicustom Nowlin barrel with bushing
>Ghost competition trigger kit that'd been completely worked over
>Springco ultralight springs everywhere
Even the striker pack was fully custom and incompatible with an actual Glock.
>>
>>33355530
It was still 2 pin time before the frame recall in the early 2ks

My vintage 1993 2nd gen hasn't blown up despite the unsupported chamber. If you use factory ammunition and avoid 180 grain and higher as it supposedly increases the pressure in the rear of the brass that can cause it to fail, at least according to the internet. Have always preferred the lighter weight anyways as a cut down 10mm seems to make more sense with a cut down bullet to go with the shorter brass.

because you can conceal the g29 more comfortably. then just run extended for the range or innawoods. the adapters attach to the mags, not the frame. the extended barrel is only if you want to meme up or velocity chase with your chrono. its also longer than the stock g20 barrel.

it's way more versatile than a full size g20.

5.56 is .223 loaded to higher pressure. And yes 5.56 is perfectly adequate out to 600 yds with a good optic.

Now go to /arg/ and ask for part recommendations. $1200 is the sweet spot for building a nice AR. Don't worry, building is stupid easy and you can learn how to do it from watching a 10min youtube video.

>>33372978
>>

>Don't square up to me or my son ever again.

You're not going to get a "nice" long range setup in an AR for $1200.

I would recommend a ~$500 Howa 1500 Varmint, $600 worth of glass, and a Harris S-series bipod. Then another 2 grand in ammo to practice with.

.223/5.56 is capable of good groups out to around 850m. With a long-barreled (26"+) boltgun and 75gr+ match bullets it's supersonic to 1000m but gets absolutely shrekt by wind, and requires a LOT of skill to shoot well past ~500m.

G34 Gen-3 with Trijicon night sights and an "Alpha Wolf" threaded barrel. Still trying to decide what suppressor I want. Might as well wait to see what happens with the HPA.

I sold a Glock 19 gen 4 with 5 mags and a night front sight for $550.

Is the deal fair?

Yes

What frame?
I'm not a Glock person usually and I checked this thread and now I'd like to build one.

>All Gen 4 and most Gen 3s have a non tenifer finish
This is flat out false.
Tenifer is the coating under the surface finish, and is indiscernible to the naked eye.

It's the actual "finish" that Glock fucked with, not the tenifer coating.
>Tenifer
>Ferritic nitrocarburizing
>Melonite
It's all the same thing with different branding.

Zero to do with the actual finish.
>>
>>33374487
why would you even post about it if you didnt care
>>
>>33378115
>It's the actual "finish" that Glock fucked with, not the tenifer coating.

so what's the "actual finish"? gen4s look and feel like chalk board and are matt black while gen3s have a fine orange peel surface and are glossy.

Glocks are legitimately good. The fact that 95% of this board gets buttflustered about Glocks makes it all the better about owning one.

>there's people who literally rage and have a pissy fit at the fact that you stippled your Glock

Just got a turn in Glock 22 gen 3 from sog (hand pick) for 320. What do I need to know? First Glock, had plenty of autos and revolvers already. Pic related for example.

Thinking about a lone wolf 40-9 conversion barrel. Glock 17+22 for ~500. I know I need mags for a 17 to make it behave properly.
>>
>>33377982
The only thing I do to my trigger is put a 3.5lb connector in.

Probably handloads, or a mix of ammo they collected from questionable sources.

Yeah the holder has a longer pin clipped onto it (NOT THE CENTER PUNCH)

can confirm, owned glock for 3 weeks.

also it's malfunctioning and glock hasn't been helpful... use heavier grain ammo when no one says they've ever had issues with it...
