Probably because if they straight up anodized it 'Nam Gray they'd have to jack up the price. For $1200 the Troy XM177E2 is a great deal. The receiver finish would be be only big complaint.

I definitely overpaid but I love it so I'm not worried. It's a rebuilt Colt kit with a Green Mountain barrel and refinished steel/aluminum. 1200 for everything but the stripped lower. I paid 300 for the lower and replaced the previous owner's parts with Colt parts. You could get it done much cheaper if your autism level is lower than mine

Oh, I didn't see the pony. How cheap do you reckon someone can get a close enough copy on an A1 reciver? Thinking about getting an engraving machine and maybe offering knockoff colt markings for 80% but am currently working out if it's worth the trouble to do it and potentially getting fucked by Colt even though no one would really mistake a roll mark for an engraved gun.

You're honestly just a few hundred over the average cost of an A1 clone that isn't KitBuildOnA2Lower-tier. I think mine was $1100 after everything was said and done, and that's not counting Norrell's work and the Colt optic. A1 building is nowhere near as easy or cheap as it was three years ago.
