A/K/ 907 thread last one will 404 soon

Few anons are talking about a meetup this spring. Any Alas/K/an anons interested? One idea mentioned was Sutton coal hills next month or may depending on weather.
>>
If I'm a mechanical engineer / metallurgist, is my only real opportunity to live & work there in the oil n gas industry? I don't have an issue with that, just curious.
>>
>>33353542
I think next month is a little optimistic for weather conditions.

Also, what kind of guns are people thinking of bringing? I have a couple neat ones but they choke in cold weather.
>>
>>33353542
Definitely will be interested.

So is everyone okay with Sutton or any other ideas on location ? Zero lake in Houston might be another option but both those places can get packed full of normal people doing normal people stuff.

Man.. I just googled coal hills. All the results are articles relating to locals complaining about "unregulated" shooting and trying to get troopers to patrol the area. hmm.
>>
>>33358972
I saw that theres been some issues out there. Thats a bummer i havent been back there in a while but it used to be a good place to shoot.

Zero lake is getting trashed too.
My buddy just got back from out there and said a trooper stopped to talk to him about people burning cars.

Where do we go ? I just wanna shoot some guns with anons and have a good time.
>>
>>33359233
We need an anon out that way to scope out the situation before we commit to that location. I might check it out myself if I have time.

Wherever we wind up, we can leave the place cleaner than we found it. That sort of considerate behavior goes a long way.

Heading over to RC at 2 PM for some shotgun and pistols if anyone is about.

Winter cold, how does it affect ar/ak rifles?

Depends on a variety of factors. Personal experience for me is that WHEN they finally ice up the AK is easier to get running again. But the AR will go longer before inevitably freezing up.

Juneau has a decent sized range that is open to the public during daylight hours and runs on donations.

Thumbs up to this guy. leave your rifle outside if youre doing serious cold weather shit. Its the condensation that is caused by going from cold to hot, and then freezes again that fucks up actions. That and the lube that gums up from too cold weather.

I really want to move to Alaska. I'm from Indiana, currently a merchant mariner on the Great Lakes but I think I want to get into more salt water shit, so the job market in Alaska doesn't affect me. I love the outdoors and guns and basically just want to live in a small town of like 5,000-10,000 people, with a couple dozen acres of land, and mind my own business.

Is Alaska as expensive as everyone says it is? I've heard conflicting reports. One Coast Guard buddy said Alaska really isn't that expensive, and it's just that stuff like milk or fresh veggies might cost like a dollar more at the grocery store. But then another guy told me that shit like housing and construction is outrageously expensive, and a house that I could build for $400,000 down here would cost like $900,000 up there.

>tl;dr
Can any Alaskans tell me how expensive things like housing/construction costs are up there?

10,000 is a small town for the entire municipal area. I'm not talking about town limits or whatever. I'm guessing in Alaska you don't really have municipal areas though.

Basically I'm saying I just want to live within 20-30 minutes of a town that has a sporting goods store, a diner or two, a grocery store, and basic entertainment like maybe a movie theater and a bar.

Thing is, they are taxing it so heavily that people are still inclined to buy "black market" pot, just like they always have. The State's mismanagement, coupled with our tiny population (and a myriad of other factors) is going to yield some pretty lackluster numbers. Pot will not provide us the benefits that it has provided to other states.

It's desently easy to grow, you can buy a kit at SAMs club in Fairbanks. Walmart has nigger style growing equipment for stupid people. Barns and Noble has an entire bookshelf about weed and growing it.

The problem is 6 plants isn't much for a normal grow. Unless the plants are FUCKHUGE and your getting half a pound of each one, you'll most likely run out of weed before your new plants are finished. Then what? You half to buy from Tyrone cuz the retail stores are Jews.

Not to mention getting new plants with a 6 limit is really fucked. Say you have a mother plant to take clones, that's 1. now you can only grow 5. Yes you can make it work but the average pothead can't grow 5 8ft pot plants. Growing smaller ones say 3ft. 2 budding and 3 veg. Vice versa and 1 mother is about the best the average bob can do. If you learn how to max your plants out and be very conservative with you smoking, your set. Thing is that's like a fat pastry baker, only eating surplus MREs.

I've worked shitty retail jobs in asset protection in town and pretty much everyone involved was a junkie trying to steal stuff for quick cash. As a side note, the natives are pretty Christian, so realistically speaking I think it's the fact that multiculturalism is actually forcing them into a state of limbo where they are expected to remain in their own antiquated culture, reinforced by tribal politics, and boom, most of them live terrible lives that imprints onto their subsequent generations. If we continue the trend of bringing them into our own society (like back in the day of William Paul) then their lives will stop sucking and then I believe their rape, alcoholism, and incest problems will be solved.
>>
>>33410021
Every native have met that adopted the true path of the white man is a functional member of society and usually very pleasant to be around. All the village natives or 'proud' natives are fucking snow niggers
>>
>>33410051
I don't really identify the path you refer to as "path of the white man" as "white", as much as I identify it with Christianity, as that's what I attribute to the success of the West, but ok.

I work with a lot of "proud" natives at my job and they generally state that their villages are shitty, terrible places to be. The problem is that these people are more ignorant than your stereotypical hillbilly, and so the only way they know how to function in western society is through getting 75% or more of their income through government, whether it's the state or their tribe. 100% if you count working for their tribal council as a handout, but I think that's splitting hairs. Either way their median income is probably somewhere in the 4-digit numbers based on what I've seen and that assumption is accounting for outliers. The ones who are "proud" are either rich natives profiting off the identity politics system and are nefarious for profiting off of the suffering of their tribes, or useful idiots who help harm their ignorant but conciously suffering village-mates. I see why alcoholism is common, at the very least, though I don't totally understand why the sex crimes are so common.

I know, that's the weird part. Last time I heard, there was a professor at UAA with native heritage who bragged about her grandfather being a war hero- fighting Athabascans
>>
Hey guys what collage sucks more cock, UAA or UAF?

Shouldn't even be a UAA. Fucking Anchorage wants to steal the University from UAF and the capital from Southeast.
>>
>>33418933
UAA by a long, thick margin.
>>
Hey any of you boys want to help us with some recce on taking HWNDU flag we may have a confirmed location. We are in a discord call anybody live near Kasilno River?
>>
>>33419165
I was going to post this but wasn't sure if I should. Hopefully he put's it in southeast somewhere.
>>
>>33419165
Is it bad that this doesn't read as english for me? What the fuck are you talking about?
>>
>>33419998

Anyone else notice that AK Brewing changed up their prints on their hoodies. A lot more shitty and cheap looking, though the actual sweater is the same.

My wife bought one recently when we went back home for Christmas from Japan, and hers seems much crappier in quality than mine.

Outsider question: Is wolf hunting in the southeast a viable summer activity? I am considering riding up and figured I might want to do something off the bike when camping chilling.
>>
Okay people, let's try to go have some fun together

>When?
4/1/17, Saturday

>What?
Steel Challenge speed shooting pistol match.

>Where?
Birchwood Recreational Shooting Park

$15 entry fee and an additional $10 per extra gun you want to compete with. All divisions represented but centerfire limited has the most shooters.

>Bring at least two magazines, 3+ is preferred
>If you never mis you will need 100 rounds, I usually shoot 150-170, first time competitors should bring 250 (I can help if you need)
>BRING ICE CLEATS, you can't shoot without them

>>
>>33420963
Also, if you don't have a suitable gun, or have a gun but no holster I may be able to help. Just give me the details on what you're short on.
>>
>>33420963
oh, to be totally clear

>The only fee is $15 for entry, you don't need to pay for a range day pass
>This is in Chugiak near Eagle River, easy drive for anchorage and most vally bros

It's, cheap, close, and on a weekend, no reason to miss this.
>>
>>33419072
>Steal
>Bigger University that's the most efficient with the money it gets
>Despite this the state insists on keeping UAF as the head of the UA system- which is broke as shit and tied together for no fucking reason
>Anchorage is the commercial capitol of the state
>Assmad Juneaufags never let the capital move because it's the only way their shithole will remain relevant
Jim Johnsen, is that you??? Smell my balls
>>
Seriously, what kind of retard is going to say there shouldn't even be a UAA when it's propping up the whole god damn system and the other two universities are begging UAA to keep funneling money to their dumb shit programs. If anything the three universities should be broken up and forced to fend for themselves, and the satellite campuses should all be shut down except maybe the one in Eagle River, because all they do is lose a fuck load of money for no real reason.
>>
>>33421375
I live right down the road from birchwood but i dont shoot there unless im zero'ing something.

Ill be headed out to zero lake in an hour or so if valley bros are interested.
>>
>>33419165
Wait shias putting the flag here in A/K/?
>>
>>33421468
yeah, because Alaska needs more problems with brain drain.

we should take the permanent fund money and dump it into college and trade schools. So Alaskans stay up here and get educated. Instead of being drunks working fishing boats or timber.
>>
Is it just Avtec and UAA that 80-90% of the campus is high or is that normal? I don't mean the potheads, there's a heard of clear&dark niggers. All the welders snort shitty cocain like no tomorrow. Everyone over 30 that's not staff is a """"recovering"""" addict.

Fuck you Paul& Nick

>Is wolf hunting in the southeast a viable summer
Season closes on April 30th.
>>
>>33421468
>Seriously, what kind of retard
What kinda retard posted this. UAA doesn't prop up anything or fund anything.
>>
>>33421656
That's what they were saying and I guess he can try if he wants.
>>
>>33421647
So you'll be there Saturday? I'm trying to decide between competing with my CZ75 or my USP45
>>
>>33424554
Seriously?
>>
>>33423672
I haven't been on campus since weed went legal but UAS was no worse than most other campuses I'd been on and a lot better tha Washington State was with drug and alcohol issues.
>>
>>33424781
>a lot better tha Washingt
I went looking for Bruce Lee's grave when I was down there and got turned around and drove by the University. They had what looked like a lot of homeless and druggies just hanging around the streets there.
>>
>>33426987
Yeah, that's an issue on that campus. It's amazing the number of tweaker bums around in the morning end up sitting behind you in class in the afternoon. I don't care if I was getting free room and board, I bailed out washing state and back to Alaska after two semisters.
>>
>>33426987
That's just a Washington/Oregon thing

To be fair the welders would probably snort better cocaine if they could get some.

I thought it was fucking hilarious being there taking my Able Seaman class there, being 28 years old and having to not be able to drink at the dorm. What kind of bullshit pageantry is that?
>>
>>33428113
dry campus?

i thought that bullshit only exist in the South?
>>
>>33428194

You couldnt even have a few drinks and come into the campus. it was zero tolerance. It was fucking stupid.
>>
>>33428605
It's because of the rehab retards who enroll in the programs but only pay lip service to staying clean.
