Can easily be reversed in case of flank. I'm thinking float some reserves on the high ground and control the flanks. Also would be good for reinforcing the position in case of artillery strikes

Plus, you'd need the cover if you had to fall back

What? No. The playground is the defensive position. There's also a lot of thick roads nearby and a bridge, so you can move heavy equipment around

It's the ground. It's more clear when you're standing there. You have a dip surrounded by high ground. You have low ground on one side, tree cover, and houses on the high ground to float reserves in. A machine gun, some trench work, a couple dozen men and maybe a mortar team stashed somewhere nearby could hold that spot for days if there wasn't artillery to worry about. Controlling access to the highway and the bridge.
