Are they fucking serious?
AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH
>>

>Patriot missile

Its not who did it, but why.. and its always the same. For the lulz
>someone saying: it’s in the air, it’s my jurisdiction, and pushed the button.
>>
>>33345528
I don't know, that's a pretty Isreali thing to do.
>>
So the speech was earlier this week and at that point, this event was "recent."
And maybe I just skimmed over it, but I'm not seeing any details on where this happened.
So, unspecified date + unspecified location + unspecified ally = Israel with 95% confidence.
>>
>>33345485
Israel or Saudi
>>
Bet they didn't think they could get something some small and slow
>>
>>33345539
Like the friend of mine who during one exercise where all aircraft were supposedly hostile did his best to shoot down a civilian airliner 8k up in the sky with his M2 and practice blanks.

It actually makes a pretty good display of strength, like "Hey our patriots can hit a quad copter the size of a toaster".

for a higher-speed object, that is pretty hard to do.

Yeah. It also means that swarm of shitty quadcopters can defeat NATO "air defense".

Hmm...I wonder in what region of the world are consumer grade drones being used in military engagements...
>>
SPAAGS WHEN?!
>>
If I was the highest ranking officer and in charge of the airspace I would just use this as a training exercise. Say to the enlisted guys "Let's see if these things actually work." While I watch them push the button.
>>
could the $200 drone have potentially caused $2,999,800.00 or more in damage? then it's a no brainer
>>
This reflects well on the patriot. It being expensive isnt very relevant
>>
>>33345485
Here's how it works, retards.

>this unmanned aircraft is flying in restricted airspace
>what can we shoot it down with?
>we have a patriot battery

It's not like people haven't been continually spouting all kinds of cost effective solutions for dealing with drones, it's just the circumstances didn't permit that.
>>
>>33345485
Who has Patriot systems deployed atm?
>>
>>33345485

This still has not been verified. Just because a three-star said it doesn't doesn't automatically make it true.

I'm not even sure Patriot is capable of tracking and destroying a small target like a drone.
>>
>>33348787
Everyone near a combat zone (or at least a Patriot equivalent).
>>
>>33346903
idk, but that drone is way fucking more than $200.
idk where they thought up $200.
for $200 you dont even have GPS stabilization or a decent camera.
t. guy who owns a $1000 DJI Mavic
>>
>>33345485
My money is on Israel, pretty sure they have done it before.
>>
>>33345542
>>33345575
Definitely Isreal. If it was anyone else they would have named them already.
>>
>>33349195
$200 is the amount the author paid for the drone he uses to spy on his neighbor's 14 year old daughter.
>>
>>33345012
>>
>>33349236
Of course they have.

They have also developed "suicide drones." High, fast flying drones that contain an explosive. Basically it's a guided missile, but it's like...a drone. Whatever.
>>
>>33349317
$135 is the price I paid for the used Moldberg that shot down my neighbors drone when I came over my fence.

>captcha: street sign said that chicken nuggets
>>
>>33345485
Israel. It was already said hat Israel did it before.
>>
>>33348328
I would be tempted to do the same thing. Too many of these high priced weapons don't get enough testing. It would be nice to know that my missiles can actually hit a target outside of contrived test scenario. A SCUD would be a better target, but they don't sell those at WALMART.
>>
>>33345485

" Rather than defining the problem as a threat to one’s airspace, for which a missile is usually an appropriate response, looking for solutions across the larger military organization might present a new, more appropriate response. It’s like recognizing that while a fly buzzing around is a nuisance, a fly swatter is a better solution than a shotgun."

The irony is that the best solution would be a literal shotgun.
