Is the norinco m1897 decent for the money? They seem fairly

I enjoy mine, I think the M1897 action to be very fascinating, I think I impressed a Georgia hick and his gf with it last time I went to the range. Slam fired it and everything. Kicks like a mule though, doesn't have the luxury of a long, skeet shooting barrel, but it's a very fun shotgun.

I brought a norinco 870 copy today. Waaaaaay cheaper than an 870 here, even way cheaper than a second hand one. First black synthetic gun shotgun ive owned so ive nothing to really gauge the quality against, but it works without issue

They're alright. Bit rough at first and if you hate tool marks don't look at the internals, but it'll work just fine and is cheap.

Like i said before depends on chokes and ammo. Full choke shotgun with bb shot, and youll have some form of concentration of shot hitting a target out to about 75 yards. shotgun with no choke is going to give you more spread but less effective range. So, i suppose it depends on how close youll let the horde get to you before you start firing

With slugs I'd say a hundred yards is pushing it. With buck it'll depend on your choke, but way less.

I've heard that the Norincos are OK, and by that I mean they're a good value if you don't want to shell out for a century-old Winchester. The Norincos that I've seen are all out of my price range, but I ended up buying the IAC Cowboy 97 (basically a better Chinese '97 with some design input from Wild Bunch shooters) for $350 off Gunjoker and used the money I saved to shell out for the trench gun parts. It's currently in the shop being converted/having an action job done.

They haven't been imported in about 10 years. So you're gonna have hunt for one. I was just lucky to find mine a few years back. Or, if you're enterprising and patient enough, you can take one of the currently imported 1897 repros and make it into a trench gun from aftermarket parts.
