Anyone got any advice for someone looking to buy a Mosin?
>>
>>33332745
Yeah, buy a Mauser
>>
you waited too long. they are hardly worth the money today. that being said look for a Finnish M39
>>
get good health insurance for the severe upper body injuries that you are going to sustain firing it
>>
>>33332745
dont bother unless you want it for collectable or historical reasons
if you want a shooter look elsewhere
>>
>>33332779
What would you recommend?
>>
>>33332791
Czech and Turkish Mausers are fairly cheap and there are very nice examples out there
>>
>>33332791
anything with a low deductible, dont skimp on the coverage either, $5-$10 million might be enough

The Finns made the best generally, but you can find a good one from most makes. Watch out for rotten bores in particular - some of these have been warehoused for a century.

>>33332766
They're not as easy to pick up for a song as they used to but I saw a good deal on one a few months ago so they are still out there.

>>33332770
Really? My 92 pound girlfriend had no trouble with the big one, she only thought the carbine kicked a little, so just how pussy are you?
>>
>>33332770
you fucking pussy. mosins dont recoil any harder than any other 30 cal bolt action
>>
>>33332843
What's a good price? The lowest I've seen was around $275.

Take the time and file the paperwork and 30$ for a c&r ffl and then just look for a mosin online after that.

Buy a Mauser if you want to rarely shoot it outside handloads

Yeah, you're too late.

Buy a timemachine instead back to at least 2010 or so before buying.

Where to look for a Mauser?

My first nugget cost $50. I kek'd when I sold it for $150 a few years later.

Buy an m39 or dont bother unless youre collecting them or can find one for <$200
>>
>>33332745
Don't listen to fags who tell you the type 53 is shit. They are just as good as any of them and have a neat history of their own.

>>33332766
Classic has fins on sale
>>
>>33332791
A 22 or an AR. If you want a bolt gun get a Axis. Leave milsurp to the collectors.
>>
>>33335131
Broken stocks.
>>
>>33335305
>leave milsurps to the collectors
He could always buy mismatched guns. As I understand those have little collectible value anyway.
>>
>>33335331
Why buy a 2-4 MOA bolt gun that's heavier, has worse sights, can't mount an optic easily, and has an esoteric caliber choice if you aren't a collector?
>>
>>33335131
classic is a bunch of cocksuckers that are sitting on tens of thousands of rifles and handguns waiting to jew everyone they can.

their hand select is a fucking joke, and an easy $20 at the least for them. they have somewhere in the neighborhood of 30k SKS's chinese and russian that they are sitting on to slowly dribble out over the next 20 years. none of their "ZOMG ultra rare rifles" are ultra rare. they just like pulling this shit on fudds and people without their buying power from being involved with the Outlaws gang.

Because I like shooting old military guns, but I don't care if the bolt, stock, or whatever else matches.

If I see a neat looking surplus that I think is affordable, I'll buy it and shoot it. If I really like it I might even reload for it, but I don't consider myself a collector.
>>
>>33335337
Oh boy, another trip to filter
>>
>>33335431
Have at it buddy.
>>
>>33332745
There are plenty of deals to be had out there on armslist. Get at it.
>>
>>33332758
Yep get Mauser. Mosins were good when they were dirt cheap. They are no longer dirt cheap; Mausers are now cheaper and better. Only issue can be ammo, but surplus 7,62x54r is headed that direction as well. Learn to hand load.
>>
M44s are fucking flamethrowers.
>>
>>33335693

>implying ammo is an issue

I've seen turk and yugo surplus 8mm online for 25 cents per round. I personally use turk surplus in a M24/47, and it works great.
>>
>>33335726
Is non-ww2 measurement Romanian stuff bad to use in a Czech vz24? It seems notably cheaper than other 8mm.
I remember hearing about some particular country's ammo being shit or not fitting right.
>>
>>33335726
>surplus 8mm

Where? Everywhere I look it's out of stock. Even the ammo on Gunbroker goes for 50 cents per round by the time the auction is over.

If you want a nice one spend some money on a finnish m39 or a pre 1942 tula 91/30

If you just want one get a 91/30 for 200 or less

They really are a waste of money at the current market value
>>
>>33335446
yeah, if you want to pay double what you should, and then 50-60 cents per shot
>>
>>33332745
Unless it's 2011 or earlier, don't.
>>
>>33332766

just but a modern rifle unless you're startin a curio and relic museum there is literally no reason to own a nugget
>>
>>33332745
>Anyone got any advice for someone looking to buy a Mosin?

If you want to buy a poorly made surplus rifle to shoot, take it to a gunsmith and have it checked out first, especially the headspace.

Plus, only a fool would buy a Mosin buttnugget for more than $100. They're junk, and have always been junk.
>>
>>33333018
bought an arsenal refinished 91/30 like a week ago and they ran outta stock, glad i got it when i did but hating myself for not getting one 6 months ago.
