It's the worst of the battle rifles you can get today, while also being one of the most expensive. I'm glad I inherited mine because no fucking way is it worth what it costs. It's fun and ~aesthetic~ but I'll take a FAL, AR10, BM59, or even a PTR over one. Dollar for dollar I'd take a C308 first.

It's not all that obscure, there are a lot of parts kits for these floating around in the U.S. and it's really not that difficult to convert a Garand into a BM59 as long as you have the tools to re-barrel it since they are built on Garand receivers. The BM-59's that the Italians produced for their military had select-fire capability, which that along with it's assault-like features probably led it to being banned. If you want to hear about an obscure rifle to ban by name, the fucking H&K G11 is banned by name. Where the fuck would you even begin to locate one in the first place?
