it's combination of affordability, modularity and availability cannot be matched by any other modern sporting rifle

that being said, I'm an AK guy myself as I personally prefer the way one points/feels in my hands over the AR, but that's subjective.

What isn't subjective is that I pay about 5-10 cents less per round because I buy large amounts of steel cased ammo and they ship it to my door. Problem with AKs is that they aren't Lego easy to modify and fuck with like the AR.

it's a great gun, but I'd suggest you rent one and a few others at a range before making up your mind (assuming this is your first babby killer)

just an example of what I mean about AKs being a little less modification friendly, I ordered a wooden furniture set for my AK a while back and the stock fits so damn snug in the receiver I just about destroyed the old one getting it out (granted I was going at it like a mongoloid because I was excited)

Getting the new one in wasn't much easier, I suppose I could have sanded it down a little, but I ended up putting a boot over the end of the stock and slamming it down on my garage floor until it was fitted. Hopefully no one ever tries to take it off again.
