I don't see the purpose. You should never rely on your pistol and 30 more rounds of 5.45/7.62x39 would be vastly more useful than 2 magazines of 9mm.

How does breaching work?
>>33324374
A squad is made of 8 people.
2 men comprise the breaching team
2 men are support gunners
4 men are the clearing team
When approaching a building to breach, an optimal location for entry is selected. This location depends on enemy forces inside the building, forces outside the building, and the ability of forces inside the building to attack from positions like windows. The key to a successful breaching is surprise and shock, so it's not uncommon for a breaching location to be a thin wall that is blown up with explosives, or a door that is blown up with a rifle grenade.
The job of the breaching team is to set up the explosives on the door/wall and provide smooth entry for the clearing team. The support team is meant to stay back and keep the enemy occupied with suppressing fire so they don't notice the breaching and clearing teams setting up.
Once the breaching team has provided the entry point, a flashbang or frag is thrown into the room. Frags are more effective, but they can kick up so much dust that entry is delayed and also kill hostages (if present). Assuming a flashbang was used, entry by the clearing team happens immediately.
The clearing team will seek to clear the room by dominating it with speed and defense. The first guy in always seeks to be in a corner of the room near the door so he can cover a large area. The other 3 guys will invariably spread out along the wall on the same side of the point of entry. After the room is cleared, the team will immediately prepare to clear the next room, if hostiles are still in the building. The process repeats until the building is clear.
Not really an operator, but some might enjoy the sight of a happy slav with factory sawnoff vesion of MTs-255

I'm Russian and i admit, we have a lot of old weaponry. Latest report from MoD announced that only by the end of 2016 we achieved a rate of 50% tanks in pur ground forces are modern. A 70% level is to be achieved by 2020.
This is mainly because Russia is investing more than a half of its mikitary budget in "high-tech" branches, such as C3, missile weaponry, nuclear weaponry, airforce etc. That statistic was also included in that end of the year report. The training is also improving, from what i hear from veterans.
Tbqh, i agree with that decision, as it's the rifles that win battles, but not tge wars themselves.

>>33324131
He is clearly set up for close quarters engagements in a controlled environment. Transitioning to a handgun would probably be common for certain situations and having a pistol mag at the ready would be more important than a fourth ak magazine, where the odds of him using more than a single magazine are slim.

1. Just because foreign media has picked up a story, DOES NOT MEAN THE INFORMATION IS DECLASSIFIED OR NEVER HAD ANY CLASSIFICATION ASSIGNED TO IT. Please use common sense. I see people posting stories from foreign regime run sites (for instance RT), referencing civillian casualties due to NATO activity, NATO troop movements, among other topics. Without verifying from a legitimate source that this information is true and is public domain, you may be in violation of 18 U.S. Code § 798 - Unauthorized disclosure of classified information by re-posting it. This also applies to Wikileaks, Snowden, and other high profile leaks. If you had a clearance, you would know that there are briefings warning specifically that this information is still classified.
2. If the information from the foreign-run propaganda website is NOT assigned any classification rendering it illegal to disclose due to being untrue, then reposting it constitutes engaging in informational cyber warfare on behalf of a foreign regime. Posting stories, images, half-truths, hoaxes, and other devices created by foreign regimes to undermine faith in the US Federal Government is not a first amendment issue, you are not speaking your opinion, you are using a public utility to spread propaganda deliberately created as a weapon against the American people. With all the scrutinity currently surrounding Russian meddling in the media and election process, this is not something you want your name linked to. There are so many ways this could be interpreted in the US Code that it is impossible to list them all.
In conclusion, if you come across a story on RT (or any other website) alleging some information about US and/or NATO Military activity overseas and cannot verify it through a legitimate news source, consider that it is either classified information, or false/fake information created for the purpose of informational cyber warfare.
Thank you, and again please advise if there are any questions.

This is the exact battalion i'm talking about. Vostok and Zapad weren't the only ethnic Caucasus units, the entire 42nd Division are ethnic locals from the region. It's a battalion famous for having ethnic clashes, even more so now that Chechens are being conscripted.
why do vatnik uniforms look so comfy
It must be the hoods. I love the hoods tbqh. There is something really good looking about the general silhouette of russian uniforms.
Also why do they hug their rifles like this so much? Is it actually a taught doctrine thing?

It's a comfortable way to hold most guns, including AR platform, yet you dont see non-russian troops do it that often, and if they do it's more of an individual thing.
That's because it really is a doctrine thing.
>>33335496
>>33335521
It actually is doctrine. I remember seeing thread about this exact thing and someone posted Russian firearms manual where this is recognized as legit and encouraged position. Moving the gun to firing position is actually pretty surprisingly easy and fast too.
