neighbors house was broken into, looking to get a shotgun to the homestead. What should I look into?

Maverick 88
Probably the one you just posted

It's almost fishing season, people are pawning guns for rods. Get you a barely used Mossman 500. I see them go in the mid $200s all the time.

Mossberg 930. Train with it and find an ammo that feeds and cycles reliably. When the time comes, it'll be as easy as aim and pull the trigger.

a double barrel shotgun is all you need

As a former remington fan, I would advise you to opt for a Mossberg. 590 A1 is tops.
Any pump shotgun is going to work well
Maverick 88/ mossbergs are your best bet.
Remington quality has dropped lately but older police shotguns are highly recommended
Off brands like Stevens or the HR Pardner work fine for cheap but have less options and custom parts

hard to go wrong with any pump, really
just don't buy from a no name brand or anything remshit
personally, I'd go for an 590 just for the bayonet lug

Nothing wrong with a saiga
Remington 870. Under $300 and will last you your whole life. I have my dad's 870 from 1975 and it runs as well as my new 870.

Mossberg 500 or 590A1
Maverick 88
Vepr 12 (I recommend folding stock)

I bet you think Glocks are shit too. Don't listen to this fag, op. Remington and Mossberg both make amazing shotguns. If you want tactical get the Mossy. If you want wood get the Remington.
Vepr 12 or saiga 12? Is there anything different about them that's worth choosing over the other?

Veprs are better all around and pretty much the only good option if you don't already own an ak shotgun.
They'll eat pretty much any ammo and don't require gas system adjustments to change between lighter or heavier loads. Saigas are finicky with ammo and generally require a lot of work to use lighter loads. The vepr also has a very superior mag system compared to other aks. You can change mags super easy and quickly. And the safety lever is 1000x better than the standard ak safety levers.

This, mossberg 500, mossberg 590, and remington 870 are the four most popular shotguns for home defense and law enforcement for a reason.
Look for a mdel with a more open choke, nothing full choke. Buy 00 buck 2 3/4 inch shells and you're done
Mossberg 500, something like this would be my choice, I feel Remington and mossberg get it spot on when it comes to shotguns.
Just about anything used for under $200. You just need a pipe to blow shotgun pellets through.

Five hunnah
The correct choice is an M&P-15 Sport.
