I don't know fuck about cruise missiles, but most of them seem to be going at half the speed and a tenth of the weight.

But yes it it much much much more expensive, but I think that's what makes it most effective against the kaiju: the willpower displayed by a country willing to piss away trillions on a plane they don't use, augmented by Randy Quaid ranting and raving while piloting it to his doom.
