So I just won a well used Redhawk in .44 magnum off Gunborker for $450.
.44 mag thread? How painful are these things to shoot?
>>33321670
Not very.
Just don't become a vegas gun instructor anytime soon.
Depends on barrel length and grip material. I can shoot a 4.5'' barrel with rubber grips all day comfortably, and enjoy it. A <3'' barrel with wood grips? Thanks for the offer, but I'll just shoot it 6 times.
>>33321670
Nice thing about these is you can even shoot it in single action.
>>33321697
OP pic is the one I bought. 7.5" barrel with rubber grips.
Do these things wear out? The gun looks kinda scratched up and I have no idea how much it was shot.
>>33321670
Not bad with rubber grips, if this is your first revolver take my advice and do not try to hold your arms out and locked up like some people I see shooting semi autos. You'll discover what wristpain is that way.
Instead let the gun recoil up, leaving your elbows bent while shooting and your forearms will rise up with it rather than torqueing your wrist.
>>33321729
Just don't slap the the cyclinder into the frame (flick your wrist and slam it in ala cowboy movie style) and it should last a long time. Forcing cone may crack, spindle arm may bend, but those are easily replaceable.
>>33321746
Not my first, but this barely counts.
>>33321729
Rugers are very durable revolvers, I highly doubt it has any problems, and most 44 magnum revolvers are not shot that much.
>>33321670
This one? Now 4chan can buy it for you.

Even though that's an airweight (nice belly buster btw) shooting 38's out of that is nothing like full power 44 mags from even a heavy gun like the Redhawk.
You can muscle the 38 and feel fine, you'll hurt yourself trying to man handle a 44. Just bend your elbows a bit and let the guns weight work for you.
>>33321688
My sides that are gone now have you to thank for using up my frequent flier miles.
It's not a huge deal. The noise in an indoor range is more of an issue to me.
I had my 10 year old nephew shooting a range rental for an afternoon, and he loved it.
And I'd wager my airweight j-frame with +P 38's stings worse.
>>33321670
They can fire .44spl too
>>33321670
Extremely painful for you.

What's the joke?

>"Did you mean to do that?"

Some people dropped as babies.
Others were thrown at walls.

retardation aside i am almost impressed how almost blowing his own face off barely interrupted his sentence.
noguns here,
What's the deal with larger calibers typically being used in revolvers instead of autos?
>>33325014
An auto that's strong enough to handle a powerful cartridge and large enough to feed the shells is going to be huge and complicated. Like the Desert Eagle.
Strong revolvers are simpler to make.
>>33324969
prolly does it all the time
>>33321765
Forcing cone is not replaceable.
>>33325655
For some reason I can't stop laughing at this.
Anyone have that gif of the retard shooting it and it shipping back and forth?
It is just me or does /k/ have very few wheelgun shooters, and the ones it does have are either poorfags with Nagants or pricks with Manhurins they won't shut up about.
>>33322438
He teaches the police, right?
>>33321729
Finally starting to break my hand in on my .500 and it's pretty similar. Rubber grip, 8.something barrel. The good shit. You'll be fine. Just don't nigger it. If you do, don't nigger it with more than one in the cylinder. Big bores like to force you to doubletap.
>>33327108
By golly, you're right. Everybody is all about the tacticool bullshit. Not enough niche items here, like long range or precision handguns.
>tfw have a nugget
you gon make me sad
>>33321670
Nice. Redhawks are fucking tanks. With decent grips a 44 mag is not overly painful. A J-frame with spicy loads is more painful.
>>33322438
>"you mean to do that?"
>"yeah"
That situation was unsavable regardless of how smooth that line was delivered.
>>33321670
>7.5"?
>>33324969
he probably have some decent practice with fucking up like that

Holy hell, the rate at which his head jumped backwards and them returned to position is too much for me.
>>33322438
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
>>33322438
I was thinking of getting the same model Redhawk in OP's pic for defense against bears/cougars/etc.
Would that be a good choice, or would I be better off with an automatic in 10mm?
>>33329300
.44 is way better, just get a 4-5" barrel max
>>33329308
why the shorter barrel?
I'd think the muzzle would flip less with the longer barrel, and the sight radius is longer, too.
It will be heavier and somewhat more unwieldy, though.
>>33329300
I'd rather have a mini draco running soft points if I had to deal with large predators. keep it strapped to your chest with a 20rd magazine, you should be set for whatever the fuck comes your way.
>>33329339
>why the shorter barrel?
cuz don't be a pansy boy
>>33327108
You should go out and buy a revolver.
Revolvers are cool.
