I honestly wouldn't go with the Tavor. They inherently have accuracy problems that IWI hasn't resolved, and it's common to get 4-5 MOA with these guns. If that matters to you, I wouldn't spend the 1800 for one.

A good AR would be better. You'd have a wider selection of parts to customise your gun to your liking, and you can find replacement parts online all over the place.

If I'm correct in assuming this is your first ar, get an ar, but not colt. I dont need to explain the pros of getting an ar for you.

A tavor would be neat for home defense as long as you use varmint rounds or don't need to worry about over penetration. It'll definitely keep you smaller and tighter than even a pistol or regular ar. I wouldn't consider the iron sights as a deciding factor. They're pretty shitty imo and the gun was meant for an optic.

Tavor is all around average, X95 is worse. The AUG is the only bullpup you want, but be ready to get disappointed when there is almost no aftermarket for it and you'll be stuck with a bullpup. I love my AUG, there isn't anything quite like laying with one and a 42-round mag and just going to town on steel...but I wouldn't buy one unless I had a few ARs first.

Colt is a trash company that has been barely kept alive by its fleeting military contracts and now that they have dried up colts quality is going down ans prices are going up. OP you could get a decent AR for less than the colt, the springfield saint is breddy good for the money, 800-900 ish bucks.

Mid length gas system, BCM bolt carrier group and furniture, 1:8 barrel (compromise between a 7 or 9 twist, melonited barrel (corrosion and wear resistant, but not chrome lined), decent trigger out of the box, key mod shit rail if you want to add light (home defense eh), basic flash hider, weighs 6 point something pounds (light enough), gay saint name on side of gun, mil spec where it counts, 1.5ish MOA accuracy

It's a decent entry level rifle my man. You could spend the money you save on magazines, ammo, red dot (get a decent one please), light and sling.

The only thing I'd change is the charging handle... with all of this BCM stuff they didn't give it a good BCM brand MOD 4 or whatever charging handle. They are like 40 or 50 bucks I think.
