Do real sneaking suits exist or is it just tacticool?
>>33316063
Yeah... It's called black clothing and nvgs
>>33316063
Yeah, they're called Ghillie suits.
>>33316063
whenever super-soldier demigods are invented and get sent on solo missions to infiltrate grand scale nuclear weapon development and storage sites, you can bet your bottom dollar they'll have some nice tech
until then, fantasy will remain fantasy
>>33316063
>needing a special suit to oper8 in
They exist but don't look like that. Sticking out like a sore thumb isn't tactical.
>>33316463
>implying that isn't the epitome of a special operational operations suit
So comfy and easy to wear, high speed due to the low weight and low drag by keeping his giant penis contained.
>>33316592
>They exist
how do you know
you will need to present some type of proof
Venom's is superior
Actually I'm curious. Is there any material, tech combo for an urban Flir defeating outfit that can actually be utilized as combat wear. I'm not talking Carl Carwindows. Something that could cover body heat without being ridiculously bulky, or causing it's wearer to overheat just by walking.
>>33317071
Anything that prevents your body heat from radiating out into the world will necessarily be a bit of an oven and lead quickly to heatstroke if the wearer exerts himself too much.
>Do real sneaking suits exist or is it just tacticool?
Depends entirely on the situation and environment.
There's no generic stealth suit, that's retarded. To blend in with the terrain you wear camo. To blend in with people you wear a disguise.
>>33317213
tactical moustache
>>33317119
How about converting the heat into something else. Electricity, or some kinda of bio sink that feeds on the heat and farts out methane or something. We are the smartest monkeys to ever walk this earth, surely we can make something.

Sneaking suits are called camo. Urbam camo is the closest thing to the shit you posted.
I'm going to say yes, in a way. Seals and other underwater SOF use scuba suits which look similar and I'm pretty sure are the visual inspiration for sneak suits.
Consider that when it was first shown in Metal Gear Solid it was shown with one was when Snake was scuba diving into Shadow Moses.
>>33317307
You can't convert heat into anything else without generating even more heat in the process.
Probably the closest you'd get to sneak suit irl, unless you do frogman shit.
>>33317379
Bah. We just need to direct enough funding and research to the problem.
I propose we create our own scientific arm for advance projects. /K/ARPA if you will.
What happened to that guy who was conning fuds out of their ammo stockpiles with fake gold coins, we are going to need startup funds.
>>33317471
>we just need to direct enough funding and research to breaking a law of thermodynamics
Wasn't the suit suppose to just be a wet suit?
>>33317376
this, Raidens infiltration of the Big Shell was also underwater
>>33316355
>black clothing
A mistake a lot of people make when they're trying to be sneaky at night (e.g. kids egging houses or trespassing to explore abandoned buildings) is wearing black. It's better than wearing a light color but black silhouettes still stand out in shadows since it's unlikely that they're going to be pitch black. Dark blue/navy are better bets, as are dark browns and greens.
>>33317487
Break, bend, spin it around in circles till it gets lost for a minute, whatever needs to happen. That's /K/ARPA's job.
>>33317471
If you were able to come up with such a tech, you'd basically be breaking the 3rd law. It would be the biggest invention since fire.

The sneaking suits, aside from 5 and 4 to a lesser degree never seem to have been focused on sneaking. In 1 and 2 they were scuba suits. In 3 it was some sort of space suit for one of those low orbit space flights of the 60's, in 4 it was more a muscle suit to keep old snake from being too weak to do shit.

Is there any "skin tight" military clothes around?
I mean running in spandex is super comfy (but gay). I don't see snakes spandex jumpsuit being so good of an idea when you get exploding diarrhea. Imagine the hassle to get your clothes off to shit.
Funny story about shitting:
>its 2011, Finland, Winter, somewhere in North Karelia
>traffic monitoring mission
>feel the brown baby jesus coming out of my ass
>walk 300m away to take a shit
>the fucking hassle to get Chestrig, snowsuit etc off
>shit ejects as an liquid
>put on all my clothes
>arrive back to the monitoring hide
>I smell shit, my buddy smells shit
>at the company notice that you accidentally shat on your snowsuits pants strap and now the shit is smeared all over your clothes
>war is hell

Were the abs and pecs really necessary?
I feel like they could have gone without it.
They exist. A Japanese professor was working on one a while back. The ones I've seen use a large network of tiny cameras and fiber optic fibers to mimic the color of whatever is behind them. The major flaw is that they heat up massively and consume a lot of power, so for now they aren't field ready.
Also you can spot the massive blob of distortion when they move quickly.
>>33319289
so that's where the cords all over the leg and arm of MGS3 sneaking suit comes from

I've thought of making a semi-functional one just for kicks since I'm a massive MGS autist. Obviously I wouldn't be able to replicate the suit's more advanced functions like thermal camouflage and muscle enhancement, but I'd like to make one that allows the user to move about almost silently.

Ussr sneaking suit in mgs3 and later on is based off this
>>33316977
I always find myself partial to the Peace Walker/Ground Zeroes sneaking suit for no particular reason. I think it might be because of the added color of the green chest rig and the stupid reflective rings on the arms and legs.
>>33320282
It's called stretching beforehand.
>>33320395
I always thought they were ballistic plates in the vest
>>33320046
The Soviet suits look pretty similar, the sneaking suit even has that thigh button regulator thingy.
>>33320624
what's the specific point, from a technical point of view of:
A) wires on shoulders/legs
B)metal rings on forearms (I guess they seal the suit, but is visible for a reason?
C)round thingies on thighs
I´m curious since those 3 motiffs are recurrent in most BB suits.
>>33320760
also, I find amazing how MGS depict this kind of things. You find something bizarre on the game and then you discover is based on actual retro high tech
>>33316063
Yes, they're called turtlenecks. Try wearing one sometime.
>>33316063
>>33316088
The closest thing to a sneaking suit is a breathable wetsuit.
>>33320332
I hate it when writers try to retroactively explain shit that needed no explanation. It's harder to suspend your disbelief when you know what's actually going on lore-wise and are able to poke holes in the bullshit.
>>33320624
Going from right to left then you can see that the suit is gaining some serious gains while also having the wearer stand more manly with an serious look in his eyes.
>>33320332
The End had a spiritual aspect? I thought he was just some weird old guy who with moss growing on him. The parasite thing is as believable as a 100yo man being a sniper.
>>33320624
that reminds me of the death stranding suit
>>33316063
Snake's outfit started as a diving suit that he used at the very beginning of a game. It just stuck and became a sneaking suit.
>>33319713
I could excuse the front of the suit due to the suit needing to bend with the body. What I still can't fathom, however, is the giant penis on the back.

>A) wires on shoulders/legs
They're not wires, they're called Capstan tubes. You see them a lot in high-altitude flying suits (never space suits) from the 50's and early 60's. Those kind of suits are known as partial pressure suits. They won't help you in hard vacuum (a lot of them didn't even have fully sealing helmets) but if you suddenly loose pressure at altitude a system of air-filled bladders squeezes you to make up for the lack of external air pressure.
The tubes down the sides of the body would inflate to instantly pull the suit tight against your body, while leaving it looser for comfort if the cockpit doesn't loose pressurization. (There's also usually lacing so each pilot can adjust his suit to make it fit better.)
>B)metal rings on forearms (I guess they seal the suit, but is visible for a reason?
Those are locking rings (or zippers, depends on the suit) for the gloves. They're still there on modern suits, but the baggy white thermal layers cover them for protection.
>C)round thingies on thighs
Depends on the suit. Either a pressure gauge, or a pressure-relief valve.
>>33321331
Gorkas didn't exist in 1998. The Russians were still using Afghankas exclusively until a couple years ago, and Sniper Wolf is Kurdish, not Russian.
>>33321524
From the in-game description it would seem that there's some sort of air-conditioning system too.
>>33321540
Gorka suits have been around since the Soviet-Afghan war, they're hardly new.

Ideally a "stealth suit," would be low-friction, well fitting, darkly colored, and leave no fibers behind.
-which are principally covered by regular clothes.
Hypothetically some kind of special padding that minimized the sound of foot-falls or shoulders and knees and such contacting walls or floors, but such padding on the sole of footware could compromise traction. Even if it were internal and super compact you could still lose some push-off.
