Hey /k/ommandos, I'll be coming into a fairly sizeable inheritance of firearms due to the recent passing of me da', He resided in commieforniastan. How would I go about moving his firearms and other stuff back to my Texan sanctuary?
Give them to me. I'll transport them
For you.
Drive your truck, fagotron.
>>33315167
Sorry for your loss anon, I would suggest looking up laws regarding transportation of firearms for California
>>33315167
Locking rifle cases, don't get pulled over
>>33315167
If it's like Jersey, locking cases in the rear of your car possible, with the ammo stored in separate lock boxes.
>>33315229
This and >>33315217
Go above and beyond what the states may require of you so they can't fuck with you.
>>33315167
The Firearm Owners' Protection Act of 1986 (FOPA) signed into law by president Reagan protects you from any legal repercussions, as long as the firearms and ammunition are not immediately accessible, that the firearms are unloaded and, in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver’s compartment, the firearms are located in a locked container.

Appreciate it brother. Both he and I have plenty of firearm cases for transit, and I can pick up more than enough ammo storage if he has any.
I'll probably post an arsenal picture at a later date. He's got a neat amount of milsurp and shotguns.
>>33315167
In a pickup with the guns piled up in the back, except for the one you're shooting up into the air as "it ain't me" blasts out your sound system.
>>33315301
Just be sure to print that page out to show to the cops just in case you get pulled over or end up at a California border checkpoint.
Cops hate seeing tons of guns transported interstate and you need to be able to quickly prove you are on the right side of the law before they slap the cuffs on you after seeing a pile of guns.
>>33315333
I've driven in and out of California a bunch of times, only border checkpoint I've had to go through was their Dep. o' Agriculture point while coming into the state.
>>33315333
california has state border checkpoints? jfc, i realize they're a nanny-state, but i didn't realize it was that bad
>>33315353
Just be as safe as you can, I would hate for a /k/ommando to get pulled over and have an entire pile of guns seized indefinitely until you spend thousands in lawyer fees to pester a judge into releasing the guns that you cant truly prove possession of back to you by some lucky chance.
This same story has happened countless times. It really is that bad in some places.
>>33315167
California has a form for this (surprise surprise) but many people even within the State don't bother with it:
https://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/agweb/pdfs/firearms/forms/oplaw.pdf
Personally, just take 'em and shut-up. Or you could mail the long arms. USPS allows mailing of long-arms interstate to yourself.
>t.have moved a dozen times in the past 15 years, I would put my guns and ammo in the UHaul first. Ain't nobody climbing over a bunch of mattresses and TV's and appliances to maybe find something.
>>33315365
>>33315365
>california has state border checkpoints?
Not just California my friend. CBP has many interior checkpoints all over the west.
>>33315167
just put them in their bags/cases, put the ammo in a separate bag, load it all up in the trunk or otherwise out of any passengers reach area and throw a blanket and some crap over it. be sure to fill up on gas before you load up your car and head for the Arizona border, they won't stop you as long as you don't have any fruit. AZ cops don't give a fuck about guns so long as the rifles are unloaded, and even if you get pulled over in California just take the ticket and be polite to the cop. they have no reason to try to search your car so don't give them one.
>>33315333
>California border checkpoint.
Jesus christ they really are trying to become their own country
>put rifles in duffel bag
>put duffel bag in back seat
>drive to Texas
Do you think this is the Soviet Union or something where you'll be stopped at every interstate border and checked for contraband and papers or something?
>>33315547
It's California dude there is checkpoints.
>>33315167
>taking guns out of cali
They will thank you
>>33315547
There actually are checkpoints though. Last time I drove to Baja I had to go through about 8 plus 2 other "alcohol compliance" roadblocks where they had undercar mirrors and drug/bomb dogs.
>>33315526
They've had border checkpoints for decades anon... They mostly look for people carrying invasive plants and insects.
>>33315167
- do not store ammo and guns in the same container, or even in the same section of the car
- lock guns with cheap gun locks, lock the cases they are in with anything else.
- for added insurance, partly dissemble the guns before locking into case
- don't drive slow, don't drive fast, put a thin blue line and Plummers union sticker on the back of your car.
- if you DO get pulled over, be totally honest, most cops in Cali don't like citizens having guns, and will like the fact you're taking them out of state
- don't be autistic about mAh rights
- make sure all guns are Cali compliant
- no mags over 10 rounds
- no NFA
- ammo in locked container
Wish you luck, Cali Anon here. I don't take all these precautions whenever I go out, but if it's a big collection they might be ornery
Good luck bud

What the other anons have said is pretty much right. Put them in cases not immediately in reach, lock them if you can, store ammo separately. Drive out of California by the quickest route possible, preferably through Nevada or Arizona. The agriculture checkpoints are one-way, so you'd only get stopped going into CA, not coming out of it. Even coming in, 90% of the time you'll just get waved through. FOPA is designed precisely to protect you in situations like this, and the only state that's notorious for being a bitch about it is New York, so unless you plan to drive from California to Texas via New York State, it won't be a problem. Just in case, carry some paperwork that shows you legally own these guns if you can.
Other than that, don't worry.

>>33315167
Do what >>33315217, >>33315229, and >>33315756 recommend.
Also, if you're coming out of SoCal, take this route to bypass the checkpoint in Needles:
>I-40 to US 95 just outside of Kleinfelter
>US 95 to the NV 163 junction in Palm Gardens, NV
>Take NV 163 to Laughlin, which turns into AZ 95 once you cross the Colorado River
>Take AZ 95 to AZ 68
>Take AZ 68 to US 93
>US 93 takes you to Kingman, AZ, where you get back on I-40
I've brought a lot of Hatch peppers into CA this way.

Holy shit, California is literally a fucking communist police state. How the fuck have you guys not lynched your politicians in the streets?
>>33316741
As a follow up
>Take I-40 to Holbrook, AZ
>In Holbrook, get on AZ 77 to Showlow.
>In Showlow, get on US 60 and take that to Socorro, NM
>In Socorro, get on I-25 to San Antonio
>Stop at the Buckhorn for a green chile cheese burger
>Get on US 380, which will get you into Texas
>Take US 62 from Brownfield to Lubbock
I'm assuming you know how to get home from Lubbock.
>>33316801
I'm supreme autismo with >>33316741 and >>33316837 of course. I've gotten a lot of Hatch peppers through the checkpoints in Needles and Blythe (when taking I-10).

Fortunate son
Holy shit are you fucking retarded
>>33316741
Dad resided in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, a hop, skip and a jump from the CA/NV border.
>>33316854
Yes. "It aint me" by The Fortunate Sons. If there was a /k/ official soundtrack it would be the first song on there.
>>33316874
Well, in that case
>Take whatever your preferred route to Bishop, CA is.
>Take US 6 from Bishop, CA to Coaldale, NV
>Get on US 95 from Coaldale, NV to Boulder City, NV.
>In Boulder City, get on US 93 to Kingman.

Of all the things I've scene /k/, from the Remington 870 barrel getting stuck in a guys ass, to the guy who got leprosy from his uncle cooking dillo I never thought i would learn a god route for smuggling fruit in and out of Cali.
