I'm an EMT, and I'll give you one of my stories.

It's 10 PM, June 25 2013. I'm sitting at the station watching reruns of MASH on my laptop and we get a call for shooting, police enroute. My partner (a paramedic) and I rush out the door, I'm driving. I was working in the city that shift, I remember everyone on the road getting over except for a red pickup. Get on scene about five minutes after dispatch because of that fuckwit in the truck. It was a gas station. Three squad cars are already there, and I see this Asian woman sitting on the sidewalk bawling. There was about three officers restraining this big muscled white trash roidhead. Think he got tasered. A cop was clearing this little small silver pistol and zipping it up in an evidence bag. There's this young, young guy laying flat on the ground in a puddle of blood.

Kid was wheezing and choking on his own blood. He had two gunshot wounds, one right in the dead center of the upper half of his abdomen and one right into the center of his left lung. To cut a long story short, he didn't have a pulse when we pulled him out of the ambulance at the hospital. I got as many details as I could: 17 years old, wasn't exactly wearing good clothes (white t-shirt and ratty jeans), no criminal background. The bullet hit his left lung and that started filling with blood, and the other nicked the big artery that goes down your back. Got shot with one of those 25acp pocket pistols. The Asian lady was getting mugged or some shit, I guess.

We got back to station, decontaminated the ambulance, and went back in service. I watched the episode where Henry Blake gets killed in MASH for the first time. Had to go back out for a transfer about an hour later.

Sorry if that's not too coherent, I wrote it straight from memory. I don't like telling that story. That's why I'm one of those people who sperg out about training and shot placement.
