The original DD bolt up system used on the RIS II and the first gen Lite rail is better. I'm not sure how the new DD mounting system compares but I'm pretty sure I remember reading about someone here having a problem with it.

If you're not careful to get the torque values of the bolts in the bolt-up to similar ranges the rail can pull off in the direction of the tightest. Depending on what you're trying to set up, this can be really annoying or not matter at all.

Do it, I'm going to replace my SLiM with a MK8 or a 12" LaRue rail and a 14.5" barrel once I sell my MRO and get state tax return.

I had the LaRue rails on my last upper and they were solid as fuck. I would recommend them.

I had to turn up the gas to overcome spotty reliability from carrier getting too slowed down by friction from upper.

Yes. Also, I didn't do the installation only because I originally didn't know what I was getting into and needed to have the FSP and barrel drilled and tapped. It seemed like a good idea at the time, it wasn't. But yeah, I just had my smith throw the rail on when he installed the FSP.

If I go with the LaRue rail again, I'm going to go with a lopro gas block 14.5" barrel. The MK8 in black is pretty tempting too, but I'm kind of done with proprietary direct attachment systems.
