I was in the texas state guard a few years back, depends on what unit you're in. our unit was full of a bunch military rejects and old men trying to relive the glory days. that being said we managed to hold it together well enough to be first on site for a couple hurricanes and get people shelter, adequate food and water plus security, all before the national guard arrived to take over the situation. mostly directed traffic and kinda acted as "crowd control" to help out police. there were some cool guys in as well though.
