Would 10mm out of a 16 inch barrel be as effective as 5.56 within 100 yards from a damage/ stopping power perspective? I know you can't quantify those however we can come close with kinetic energy dispersion rates and penetration depths so don't give me that shit.

Are you talking specifically for a vector? I'm pretty sure that isn't an actual barrel on there, its just a pinned cover to say it has a 16in barrel.
Dont know enough about the ballistics to give an answer to the question, curious to see

Yea it's actually a barrel. That's just a barrel shroud
Bump for interest

No.

Reason?

because pistol calibers are optimized to reach maximum velocity out of short barrels, and thus can't take full advantage of the extra barrel length afforded by a carbine.

The major factor here is velocity. Rounds > ~2,000 FPS cause damage that bigger, slower rounds can't.
If you make custom loads and get some light for caliber pills moving fast enough you would have something worthwhile but not really a competitor to 5.56.

who told you that

you'll notice those lines are basically flat above 12 inches of barrel. you'll also notice that they top out around 1000ft-lbs of energy at the muzzle, with the majority of rounds tested coming in well short of that.
xm193 out of a 16-inch AR will be moving much faster, and will have the same energy at 100 yards as 10mm has at the muzzle, with less recoil.
It would have significantly more muzzle energy than 5.56 but wouldnt be effective past, say, 200 yards because the bullet has shitty ballistics

No, it wouldn't and no shit
5.56 because body armor.
