Sharing most recent trip. Me and a mate went innawoods beyond my family's farm past the property line.

Found an old barn, woods filled with old tires and random objects, and piles of bricks where buildings used to be. Rumor is that this area used to be a railroad trestle with some supporting buildings or something. Beyond that area, we found an old fuel tank down by a creek and other neat shit.

Found a nice hill near a pile of bricks that used to be a cottage. Made camp there and listened to the coyotes all night in the field below us while we finished off the vodka.

>>
>>33296480
Yugo SKS. My mate bought it off a guy who put that black poly furniture, bipod, and tanker muzzle brake on it (he added the pro mag).

Note that later when we were shooting, the brake came flying off. Apparently the brake didn't fit and rounds had been striking it with every shot. That solved his problem of why before he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

Skinwalker there friendo
>>
That's about it for the pictures, comrades. No skinwalkers, just coyotes (and they did not come in range). Next time I'm hoping to stay in the abandoned barn or the old fuel tank. Only decided to stay on the hilltop by the cottage ruins so that the rain wouldn't drown us out.

Where I used to live this sort of thing was usually an indication that a fireplace used to be there. Or you were looking at the outline of an old cistern (if the rocks were more sunken than that).

Cool trip, OP. Brought back memories. As a kid I'd go tromping around in the woods with a bb gun or my laser tag blaster.
>>
>>33297894
Lot of fireplaces if so. Still, it's very neat to ponder.

Awesome. I never went out with anything less than my .243, but that's becasue of the coyotes, hogs, and the occasional panther. Might have been nice to be a bit more normal.
>>
>>33298255
The only thing in my area back then was snakes, and I knew enough to avoid them. It was before the age of meth too, so there was less danger of two-legged vermin. All the same I'm not sure I'd be as cool with it as my parents were with me vanishing into the woods all day.
>>
>>33296762
Depends. If that used to be farm country that only grew back into woods a generation or three ago, it's probably the remnants of walls.

Every year, the frost pushes up rocks that were put in the soil by glaciers. Farmers had no clue about geology or glaciers, and just thought it was normal that their field was growing goddamn rocks. They usually piled these rocks in little walls around their fields for lack of anything else to do with them.

At least, that's how it is here in New England. Might be different if your somewhere else. But that kind of stone piles are usually from old farm walls.

turkey feathers, they get into fights all the time and knock them off each other, sometimes they just fall off the younger ones

So it was not skinwalkers. Good. Thanks, mate. I just overlooked them the first time I walked that trail.

Black must be literally the 2nd worst camouflage color after blaze orange. You stick out like a sore ass.
>>
>>33298786
Very interesting. Thanks for the explanation.

They say this area was part of a railway trestle for a logging operation. It was all pine forest until around 1930 when my family started buying the land and started clearing the land for farming piece by piece. Others started doing the same decades later.

I am in south Alabama. These rocks are not anywhere else on our land or our neighbors, just in this one spot. I don't think they are indigenous, but who knows, maybe they are in that one specific area. But that doesn't explain why they are stacked up like that, so I'd assume they were used for something. Could have very well been for a wall or a foundation of some sort.
>>
>>33298958
Indeed. My mate did not prepare very well. Oh well.
>>
Whenever I'm about to take someone's opinion on /k/ seriously, I just look at threads like this or Nuggetfest and realize 80% of you are scrawny autistic LARPing faggots, and most of the rest are traps and other assorted turbo-autists. Maybe it just me but I'd be careful exploring while OC'ing a rifle and looking like you're trying to stay hidden. If I saw that on my property I'd be pretty jumpy in confronting you. Just realize that while people may not react in a way that you expect them to, and you'd be fucked six ways to Sunday if shit happened and you were on their property.

>>33299107
Very valid point. We were far back in the woods so as far as I know, we did not come close to anyone's house. There were two points where I thought I saw someone out there. I put my rifle away and said "hello" both times (no one was there). So yeah, I was prepared to speak with anyone I came across and not look threatening, but you're right, it is a risk, and is more so the more populated an area..

>>
>>33299015
Honestly I can't disagree with this anon. There's an entire world out there full of shit much cooler than an old barn and some rusty metal in the woods.

Pretending your STALKER in the woods is just a way to make something fundamentally safe and without social risk seem fun and exciting. However, in the end you remain isolated from the world of people. There is no growth or development as a person, which is what an adventure is fundamentally about.

Not hating or anything, just reminding OP that he's a faggot.

The picture I got of it isn't very clear, and I don't really remember, but that's a good explanation. I have never dealt with livestock (we farm peanuts and cotton) so that possibility hadn't occurred to me. Neat.
