What's the best gun for survival situations (ie the apocalypse)? Most abundant ammo, easy to find parts, low maintenance, accurate, reliable, and good for hunting and killing people, and is legal and with lots of attachments?
>>
>>33285346
Depends where you're at. America: AR-15 or a 12 gauge shotgun and a 9mm handgun. Literally anywhere else in the world: AK variant and a 9mm handgun.
>>
>>33285346
If your not stocking parts yourself, your planning to fail.
>>
>>33285346
Something bolt action in .308. Everyone's got ARs so if shit really hits the fan, .223 is going to be impossible to find.
>>
>>33285890
>9mm pistol

Why? Wouldn't 40 be better? It's just as available and most Police departments carry 40 cal pistols?
>>
12 gauge shotgun always.
>>
>>33285346
>Most abundant parts
>Most abundant ammo

These should not be considerations. Real life is not Fallout where baddies drop loot and have treasure chests in their bases. If you're to the point where you need to take their supplies to survive, you've already failed.
>>
>>33285890
An AR would be bad since the keep-up costs (cleaning, lubricants) are too high in an actual survival situation. You want a gun that you can clean by only using a used shirt.
>>
>>33288285

.32acp is one of the most common cartridges in the world for handguns prior to 1970.
>9mm Luger
As if every urban commando with his Glawk hadnt blown all of it spraying suppressing fire at rioters in the first months of fighting.
>223/556 and 308
Military will eat all that up.
>muh semi auto
The more moving parts, the more there is to go wrong.

IMO
Best shtf for long term survival will be
>Sao revolvers
These are simple, and where crafted with rudimentary tools as far back as 1850. A good SAA may be slow to reload but 357 and 38spl is mostly interchangeable, and 45 colt can be loaded faily powerful.
>Nagants and AKs
Again, keeping with the K.I.S.S. principle (keep it simple, stupid) these are more likely to last than ARs and modern hunting rifles due to their sheer simplicity.
>shotguns, pump and break open
Skatterguns are simple, and shells can be reloaded with pretty much anything.

>>33286777
Yeah life jsnt fallout, but when you kill a fuck, if you can, you scavenge the corpse. Nothing says "I'm a fucking moron" like getting shot by a 9 year old girl because you didn't take the time to loot daddys corpse.
>>
>>33285346
lever 30-30 :^)
>>
>>33288665
>KISS
an AR has less moving parts than an AK
>>
>>33288730
But an AR has much smaller, more fragile parts. Ive used them irl combat, m4s and m16s are jammy mcsuckballs as soon as shit starts to get real.

A .22lr rifle of just about any sort. You can carry 1000 rounds on you while still carrying all your other gear.

You're more likely to be hunting rabbit, duck, goose, squirrel, beaver, raccoon, possum, etc than needing to take down a deer. If you kill a deer, you won't even be able to clean it without significant time commitment, and most of the meat will go bad before you can preserve it.

You can also fire it without telling everyone within 15 miles that you're there. Plus, it'll still take another man out of the fight. Nobody wants to get shot with .22lr. Nobody keeps fighting with a .22 bullet in their gut, chest, leg, or arm. And if your goal is to survive (not to kill), then that ought to be good enough.

More ammo, more suitable for small game, lightweight, portable, quieter, and still plenty deadly to a man.

>>
12 gauge or .223/5.56 or 9mm. if shit goes down there will be a ton of surplus .223/.5.56/9mm and 12guage(easily reloadable too).
>>
>>33288859
Add .22lr to the list.

.308 and .40 get honorable mentions

Real question is what's the most common levergun caliber: 30-30 or 45-70?
>>
>>33288812
Bait.
22lr is a joke. You start having bullet drop after 30yds, rimfire is more likely to light-strike ftf than centerfire, and unless you get a headshot, they WILL keep fighting. When the adrenaline pumps in the heat of the fight, most people don't recognize injury until the aftermath
>>
>>33288880
.30-30 is far more common than .45-70. It's probably taken more deer than any other cartridge in the United States.
>>
>>33288884
22 is for hunting
>>
>>33288848
I never said "daddy" was her father

Have 3 guns, a revolver/pistol, a bolt rifle, and a skattergun, learn to reload them, and look for spare parts on ebay and gun auctions.
>>
>>33288903
Its stupid expensive anymore. Its being replaced by common semi auto calibers and unless its deer season, its more economical to buy 308
>>
>>33288909
Thats not what >>33288812 said. Anon legit impliedthe use of .22lr as a combat cartridge
>>
>>33285346
unarguably a 12g shotgun. you can hunt anything in north america. if youve got a rifled barrel and sabots, your range is 200 yards.
>>
>>33288767
No you haven't and no they're not
>>
>>33288767
It's posts like these that keep me coming back.
>>
>>33289011
Yes, i have. I started my first tour as an m60 man, then m16 grenadier, and on my last deployment m4
>>
>>33289034
Because its true. Theyre junk. Get over it.

Its not my fault you're one of the sheep shelling out thousands for "daniel defense" "adam arms" and "noveske" crap thats barely better than a $500 mp15
>>
>>33289050
No one talks like that you're either lying or a pog who didn't actually fire his weapon
>>
>>33289074
>knows everything about every branch
>is the authority on "the way soldiers speak"

We arent all illiterate morons who love our service weapons because "if uncle sam gave it to me it must be the best"
>>
>>33285346
Something chambered in what your local law enforcement and military use. For America, that would be a 5.56 AR15. Not because it's the best, but because it's fucking everywhere and you'll be able to salvage parts easily.
>>
>>33289074
And fyi lower echelon NECC units still had M60E4s in service as recently as 2013.
>>
>>33289091
Every sub culture has its own sort of lingo. No one says "m60 man" most 11brotards would say gunner or machine gunner and no one says "m16 grenadier" but rather just grenadier that sounds awkward and retarded. I also think most of out gear is shit which it why I don't use a lot of my cif. And I can only speak for the army as it's the branch I'm in. So once again you're a lyer
>>
>>33289113
Never said they weren't still in service. But even if they are they're super rare today and have been for some time just like 203s
>>
>>33289140
I try to dumb it down for anons. We really call it '60-man' and 'grenadier'. Spent most of my time one an 8 man patrol made up of 2 - 4 man fire teams. One MG, One grenadier, a PL, a comms guy, and 2 riflemen
>>
>>33289166
>a comms guy
What is an rto dude. And why would a pl lead a patrol? God damn you're not even a good lyer
>>
>>33289166
Plus a gunner with out an ag or at least an ammo bitch ?
>>
>>33289189
Rto? You mean a comms guy, the scrawny of fatfuck Electronics tech that gets sent out. Im getting the sense that you're army, aka lazy ass fatfucks who train for shit then get in country and hide inside the FOB
>>
>>33289197
Depends. I had 100 on the belt bag, 100 in a chest pouch, 200 in a dump pouch, and one of the rifleman carried an extra 600
>>
>>33289069
Or maybe just maybe you're full of shit. I don't really give a shit about your anecedotes and typical noguns "AR's are unreliable" memes.

Btw that's how you use quotations, when speaking figuratively or metaphorically, not around the first three brand names when you just googled "expensive AR's"
>>
>>33289206
I literally said I'm army. Damn are you the illiterate mongrol you claimed not to be? And you can't refute the merit of my argument that you are a lyer so you attack on a personal level. You also didn't say where you deployed or what branch you are. So all in all a bad lyer is a bad lyer
>>
>>33289220
> one of the rifle men carried an extra 600
That's literally an ammo bitch retard

Cry more fagget we get your old shit
>>
>>33289245
Im laughing that you feel attacked on a personal level, when you are, like me, hiding behind a keyboard, without knowing me or what I do, and judging me based on the war culture I was trained in. I hate AR style rifles. I only own one because it was a gift and I dont beleive in selling presents.
Im done at this point. This was a good thread until we got into this. Slander me all you want. If you want to talk more I am frequently near maturango peak
>>
>>33289287
Next time tl;dr if you're going to fagpost
>>
>>33289277
I figured he was doing something like that
>>
>ar-15 in 5.56/.223
>pump action 12ga
>any glock in 9mm

otherwise, you'd be well off with rifles chambered in .308, .30-06, .243, .30-30, or whatever hunting caliber is popular in your area. you could sub out 9mm for any other popular handgun caliber and do alright too
>>
>>33289287
Ok good night warrior
>>
>>33289286
I'm in my twenties but I guess that's old when your 14

Wew
>>
>>33291319
Dont bother with >>33289337 that army asshat was just looking to argue
>>
>>33285346
Savage 24F combination gun, 223 over 12ga, with a 12ga "xcaliber" conversion kit from Chiappa allowing you to shoot 308, 7.62x39, 223, 12ga, 20ga, 410, 9mm, 38spl, 357, 45LC, and .22
>>
>>33289069
Got any statistics that back up your claim? Not just anecdotal stuff either, any links to sources claiming anything about the unreliability of the modern AR?
>>
>>33291580
>>33291580
No just good old-fashioned military experience watching the Marines Stomp around with it and the sandbox and them having to clean it almost everyday because they would get so fucking dirty from just the wind blowing dirt around that the gun would seize up when firing

I love how all you fagsticks show up all the sudden demanding proof as if you have some for a counterclaim. You can't beat Real World experience and I couldn't give two fucks if you believe me because when shit hits the fan I'm not the one stuck with a garbage gun
>>
>>33291621
>statistics

How can I trust the validity of your claim when I don't even know who you are?

Seriously considering whether this rifle is worth it or not, your stories don't help me, I need facts.

1.A revolver has more complex moving parts than most semi automatic pistols you fucking moron.
2. Your disaster preparation is a neckbeard fantasy, single action revolvers with hand loaded .45LC? Cut down on the Fall Out 4 fagboi.

>>Nagants and AKs
>Again, keeping with the K.I.S.S. principle (keep it simple, stupid) these are more likely to last than ARs and modern hunting rifles due to their sheer simplicity.

An AR-15 is no more complicated than an AK you fucking moron. A mosin nagant is fucking stupid as the only ammo is imported milsurp or scarce $1 a round domestic.
