What's your "bump in the night" weapon?
I keep this Kimber Ultra Carry II in my nightstand... as well as a couple other guns sprinkled around my house in well-hidden, inconspicuous spots.
Although I own several other caliber handguns, I chose .45 because I'd like to be able to fucking Hear after a possible altercation.
I carry .38 and .45 for the same reason.

Whichever is closest
>>33284421
Ballistics aside, people don't consider the secondary consequences having a super-sonic round indoors without ear prot.
Shameless bump
>>33284174
Have fun when your house gets broken into while you are gone and they steal your funs.

Night stand gun
Vepr-12 with buckshot. Anyone that tries robbing me is gonna have a BAD day.
>>33286497
I like the way you think.
I'm only recently /hasguns/ so for now, my go-to home defense weapon is by default my Vepr 54r.
The permanent, complete hearing loss would be completely worth the look on the first arriving officer's face when they see what's left of the poor perp after getting magdumped with 182 grain rounds at point blank range.
>>33284174
Whatever I happen to have close by. Bedside is a Ruger Security Six 4" bbl loaded with .357 Magnum, with two HKS speed loaders, as well as a Glawk brand Glawk 19.
>>33284174
Thats kind of a silly reason to use a pistol. Get active hearing protection and then get a shotgun or ar.
>>33286549
>home invasion
>you shred Jamal and Co. with 54r
>Go outside to wait for popos
>you cut your neighbors house in half
>oh shit he's mad
>beats you to death with his severed arm because you spent all your ammunition on the perps
>>33286615
54r could be a truly untapped HD round.
Combine it with a thermal imager and whammo! Now you can shoot the perp through your floor, your walls, your roof, all without even having to leave your room or go downstairs, just like the Farsight XR-20 from Perfect Dark!
Can .223 go through walls / neighboring houses?
This is hiding behind my bedroom door, loaded, and has a Slide Fire stock which makes it close to fully automatic with 30 rounds of Rock n' Roll.
>>33286919
It won't penetrate as well as 7.62x51 or 7.62x39 but it will chew the fuck out of drywall and glass.
1911 45acp
>>33284174
kek, you have the Kimber .45 version of my Colt.
>>33286919
No, it can't. Don't listen to >>33286936
>>33287008
I approve, would like to have a full size Colt myself.
>>33287142
Actually my fathers, he bought it and loaded a magazine in the 80s then never touched it. Had FTE issues, not sure why.
would buckshot that is in great shape and has been stored well but is 20-30 years old still fire correctly and be good for hunting or self defense?
what would make 12 gauge buckshot shells weak? water im guessing?
>>33284174
A pibble to wake me up, and a Glock 17 full of Hydroshocks, with a TAC light so I don't hit the doggo.
>>33287533
Not worth risking your life/your prey over, IMO.
And yea, water +primer/powder is a bad time
>>33287533
Stored properly, should be just fine. The shot shell is plastic so I would think the brass / primer would have more issue with elements.

>sig 226, my first semi auto
.40 tons is effective no matter what anyone says.
I keep a Springfield XDS 45 with the crimson trace laser sight and tactical light. Just in case
>>33286919
If you use .223 hollowpoint, most of the tests I've seen online show that it fragments and tumbles a lot better than pistol calibers (even hollowpoint ones)
>>33288589
It's just loaded with Plain Jane FMJ bulk ammo... just don't want a missed shot going through my house and somewhere unintended.
>>33288623
FMJ will probably penetrate deeper fampai
Sub 2000

Glock 32C with TLR-1 HL and .357 Sig Critical Duty. I'll be blind from the muzzle flare, and deaf from the compensated barrel, but so will the faggot trying to rape my dogs.
no light, but I keep a flashlight next to the bed. the dog would be on an intruder long before I would, so it'd be pretty odd if I were ever forced to use it. I keep it in the nightstand, mostly so I can get to the front door/window and tag them as they're entering.
>>33289249
I guess that doesn't fold up like it's designed to do...
I live in a nice part of town, so break-ins are rare although they do happen.
Is it a bad idea to keep my rifle leaning next to my bed with mags nearby? I live by myself in a 1br apartment.
590A1 tactical with tritium front blade, light and laser on separate pressure switches, loaded with 9rds of Federal tactical 00 buck.
If I hear someone breaking in they are fucked.
Plebs...
Try an 8 shot .357 magnum.
5 inch barrel so I'm getting a lot of power out of the .357 round. One hell of a man stopper.
Add some electronic ear pro to it and I have a miniature flashbang that will stun the enemy.
GIGN style.

Gotta agree with you. I was reading the ballistics chart on the .40 and it seems like a pretty good damn round. Surprised it's fallen from grace.
>>33284174
I keep both by my bed so whatever one I grab. That being said, if given the time to choose, my AR is what Im grabbing
Hey guys I'm requesting a bullet size comparison chart. From as small as possible to as big as possible and everything in between. Please and Thank You
