Why don't they just get lever action rifles? You can get them chambered in .45-70, .44magnum, fuck, buffalo bore makes a 340 grain +p+ round moving at 1500fps in 44 Magnum and a 500 grain 1500fps in .45-70, you've got 44 Marlin and literally every other fudd gun and caliber which can do some really impressive things. Instead of making fucking ARbortions why not get fancy lever/bolt guns and 1911s. It's how the video games portray you. Accept it.

Like at what point does falling for the 5.56 meme stop? It's what the government used because it's cheap and they need to buy bulk, as civilians, and I'm looking at you AWB state residents, you have better options. Go for them.

Im stuck in NY and thinking of getting a sporter saiga and just putting a different front end on it

would love to find one with the wood sporter stock and put a "evil" front end on it just to confuse people. Could easily convert the rest later if the laws ever change.

I held one of those Thordsen messes at a recent gun show and it was less terrible than an ARES thing but I still would not want to buy one.

Someone ought to produce a pump action rifle, detachable magazine fed, and where you can hold the trigger down and just pump it to fire. Like the old american army shotgun.
>>
>>33279295
Technically troy makes that, but the pistol grip and detachable magazine and collapsible stock still makes them an assault weapon.
>>
>>33279332
>>33279295
honestly all we need is more rifles like the Ares SCR or make American versions of the SKS in 5.56 and .308 or maybe some how modernize the M1 Garand and Carbine. No pistol grips, just normal hunting stocks and we can easily have semi auto rifles that are just as effective.
>>
>>33279358
>American versions of the SKS in 5.56
the Czechpoint vz58 Liberty model is available in 5.56. Functions like an SKS

Pump actions, lever actions and bolt actions are next. Here is the logic path they will follow to ban bolt actions, WW1 had bolt action rifles used. Ergo bolt actions are weapons of war. Just use a bow if you want to hunt. Bows and arrows were used during the Plains Wars and in European wars, bows and arrows are weapons of war. Lever actions were used In the Spanish/American war and WW1, lever actions are weapons of war. That is where it will go.

You people really don't fucking get it.

M1 carbine with zhukov side fodder,. Why can't it be real, anon.?
>>
>>33279332
In MA at least, if it's not a semi auto you can have all the tactical baby killing features you want without it being an assault weapon
>>
>>33279168

I live in California and I manage to own normal semiautomatic stuff, keep an eye on Calguns private sales (legal FFL transfers). I own a off-list 5.56mm Norinco AK with three 30 round magazines that will be an infraction with a fine of not more than $100 after July 1, 2017. The rifle is totally legal as is even though I did register it back in 2000 because I didn't know I didn't have to back then because of exact names being specific, in other words this isn't a banned Mak90 even though identical. So far as the magazine goes I have a lame ten round that I can use until that law gets overturned yet again. California always has loopholes for middle-class.

Also, my neighbor from a couple houses down has brought me his Marlin 336SS 30-30 to fix on more than one occasion, same thing, jammed up on him forcing me to remove the lever because he isn't mechanical. No big deal but clearly not an ideal design.

California great place to live but complicated. Hippies outnumber us as do liberal immigrants but Republicans are still about 1/3 the voters.
>>
>>33278888
Cant argue with that logic or those digits.
>>
>>33278711
Many of us have years of military training using 5.56 rifles and not whatever the hell 45-70 is. 5.56 is also going to be far more controllable against three armed gang members busting through your front door and is cheaper to practice with.
>>
>>33282973
i think you need to reread the law. unless that was registered back before the 2000 ban, it is very illegal. 30rd mags are banned completely now, no more grandfather laws, and the rifle needs that pistol grip removed or a mag lock installed and to be registered before 2018.

come january 1st, that rifle is your ticket to pound town with a felony
>>
>>33283838
The rifle is 100% legal California bought in 1995 but because it was registered in 2000 it doesn't have to have the thumbhole stock. The Mak90 series was a way to get around the 1989 assault weapon ban you are thinking of, but after 2000 the state decided those too needed to be banned and so listed them by name as needing to be registered. I registered mine because at the time I wasn't aware I didn't need to but there's quite a bit of discussion on the internet about these loopholes and people buy and sell these through Calguns on occasion. Only issue is going to be the magazines which is only a minor infraction.
>>
>>33278661

>accept it

I hope you get a cactus lodged in your prostate. We make these so called abortions because we want a rifle that fills a particular role or niche regardless of the laws and just because something is difficult doesn't mean it's not worth doing.
>>
>>33283944
i missed that it was a RAW. good shit man.

i built an ak not long ago on a polish kit and just threw a grip wrap on it for when i go to the range
>>
>>33282412
I don't want to be a felon
>>
I guess I'll take the bait, different guns are designed for different purposes. One example is home defense, using a 340 grain+p+ round in .44 is beyond effective stopping power, but it will be traveling through walls snd maybe even out your house and into your neighbor's. Now, Jamal and yourself get to share a jail cell, while you wife enjoys a romantic night with Jamal's friend Tyrone.
>>
>>33284122
Cool part about that AK is that it doesn't need to be registered as an assault weapon by any buyer because it was a forgotten model. My CADOJ registration just makes the pistol grip and bayonet lug legal that would otherwise need to be in its original neutered state, thumbhole isn't a big deal. There's also good California choices like an SVT-40 c&r, M1 Garand, or even a Cali legal mini-14 is probably a better choice than a lever gun, not that there's anything wrong with lever guns. Going to suck when/if the voted on and signed magazine ban goes into effect in July.
>>
>>33284604
...And I forgot about the federal 922r regulations regarding those pistol grips where I had to replace a bunch of internal parts with an American made kit bought way back when, still have that receipt in the gun safe obviously. So perhaps my registering serves no purpose whatsoever??? Hmmm, goddamn California.

You've got a duty to not comply. Take a roadtrip one weekend and get to Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, or Nevada. Stock up on magazines and parts. Consider building a few 80%'s too--you can now build any size 1911 (Sarco parts kits start at $230), P228/229's (W German parts kits for $300), Glock 17/22 ($600-650 all told), or a Glock 19/23 (also $600-650). If you can work with sheet metal, it's not that difficult to make a P250 or P320 receiver (buy stock parts or aftermarket parts; slide/barrel/frame/magazine kits for <$350).

Magazines for these common guns can be had and fuck those 10-round limits.
