What's the best way to "catch a bullet" inside the comfort of your own home? A bucket of sand, or iron plates?
If you want the target to catch the bullet, the bucket of sand.
If you want to catch the bullet, the iron plate.

Breivik says call of duty is good for building target acquisition skills.
Since he is the most kills of any /k/ommando type individual who hasn't been executed in an Indiana Federal Penitentiary, I would take his advice.
something like this, post pix if u actually do it

That's interesting. I recently read a book called Fry the Brain that's about urban sniping. It said the same thing, that videogames can be an effective component of a training routine. But the guy who wrote the book isn't a sniper, so I was quite skeptical...

Most of the spergs on this board would certainly agree.

I wouldn't recommend turning your living space into a shooting range.

What caliper are you planning on shooting?
Call of Duty (or any shooter game really) is great at exercising your reflexes and your observations. ARMA can give you a more realistic experience of the same concepts.
Certainly doesn't hurt

I'd argue Videogames are a useful training tool - granted, there's a huge difference between real life and what's behind a screen, but play any FPS long enough and you learn a few of the basics.
It's no different from reading a book on, say, small unit tactics, except you have a (albeit crude) simulation to run through and practice.
Though I wouldn't trust a FPS to put me on a level higher than 'not a complete idiot.'

Inside my house? Nerf.
Shooting at home? Your loved ones provide adequate stoppage but make sure you have a good backdrop like a mattress. Drywall is horrible at stopping anything, ask Chris Farley.

Arma 3 or Dayz SA has got to be decent for learning target acquisition and ranging, the latter is probably better for normal circumstances as you have long periods of inactivity but you still need to remain alert and be ready for combat at a moments notice with a wide range of weapons, and the former is apt to be better for CQC since the AI is a little wonky if your fighting at longer ranges.

Battle Royale games are even better. They teach you about managing your inventory, picking up the right weapons and accessories on the fly and dealing with enemies quickly.

Well sure beats shooting into a bucket of sand. However I do remember seeing this TV show about historical houses. On this one particular episode, a couple who bought a colonial era home found a huge block of like lead/iron in their cellar wall. Upon further investigation it turns out some colonists used that cellar as his own personal shooting range. I have no idea why, since the black smoke must've made it really unpleasant. Maybe he opened a window? I dunno.

This. I was in the first grade when my dad got me Rainbow Six Black Thorn and Essentials. Essentials had the training films in it and made it pretty cool. Then America's Army 2 and 3 with edu-tainment was pretty good at teaching a basic triage and combat first aid course.
