I have a hard on right now for kiridashis. I love that blade point. I'm seeing some different styles but they all seem to be one offs as opposed to serious knives. Have any of you ever had one?

yes it is slightly more useful than a prison shank and has about as much function as an exacto knife...I regret nothing
Kinda looks like a seax
>>33275753
it's basically just for marking wood to make cuts or cutting paper.
So useless basically...
>>33275753
>that blade point
-is only designed for stabbing hard materials. EG if you ever need to stab a fucking car to death.
Fucking useless for actual knife-work, marginally more durable tip for stabbing robots.

t. someone who can't tell the difference between a kiradashi and an american tanto
Isn't that a crafting knife for children? I guess any knife is better than no knife. I actually kind of want one legitimately for crafting purposes.

It was made for wood marking, it excels at that. So who cares what else it does.

this is /k/ weapons, not /k/ tools
It's a carpenter's knife. The flat bottom allows you to align it right against the edge of the pre-cut timber to trace around the joint, or against a ruler, etc
>>33275753
yea its just for cutting wood its a carpenters tool yo.
you can find them on etsy pretty cheap.

/k/ cares, it is a shitty weapon

I made a couple a few months ago, the blade profile is extremely sharp to the extent I hurt myself a few times accidentally.
The traditional knife is sort of a scribe, small utility knife and is a pretty simple little thing, I scaled it up by about 3x and that both makes it a bit more useful for doing other things -paring knife, boning poultry, whittling etc
Few things I did notice during some prototype testing was that the edge and point is very fine, if you hit anything hard with it or give it a good poke into something hard, you'll probably roll, chip or break it. So a secondary bevel does improve the edge strength (rather than going down from a complete angle to zero grind) and thicker steel to give the tip a bit more strength. That said, they're not hard to make

I mean it looks like an exacto knife.

They're just basic bitch utility knives, Japanese kids use them to sharpen pencils. Back in high school when I was an ultra weeb I got one on Amazon for like $20.

You are dumb.
Dumb as hell.
