When I first started shooting it felt natural.

I scored 28/40 On the marksmanship test.

Then I learned how to actually shoot. I feel like it has a gimmicky place for people who don't understand the benefits of gripping higher on the barrel, but are serious about their initial basic instinct.

More power to them if they know what they're doing with an antiquated technique.

>>

>Excuse me? Who the hell doesnt have a vert or angled grip for their railed ar?
That doesn't justify its existence.

There's literally no reason to use an aftermarket grip. It doesn't provide anything that the base gun doesn't already allow for. It's just extra weight.
>>
>>33276123
Holding it vertically is a more natural position for the hand and helps control muzzle climb. Some people might like that.

Getting this buttblased over a 5oz attachment that makes shooting noticeably more comfortable
>>
>>33275992
Some ex-military guy on youtube claimed it was taught during their CQB courses to help maneuver in a building since your arms are tucked a bit more and it shortens the lever, but it is far superior to grip further down the barrel just for the sake of leverage and controlling the muzzle if you're not in that specific situation.

>>33276178
They claim it helps control the muzzle but I suspect half of them are just trying to look cool.

according to the ATF letter, it's not a foregrip.
>"The device referenced in your communication appears to be designed as a decoration and not a vertical forward grip. If used as intended, this device *would not* constitute reclassification of your pistol as an "any other weapon [AOW]".

The same guy also got the ATF to write him a letter stating that mounting a black polymer penis-shaped bayonet to a pistol also does not reclassify it as an AOW.

$230 for the SA bolt, $90 for the demilled parts kit, $80 for the 16.5 inch barrel and $80 for the reciever. So $480 all told.

Had a friend with a lathe make the bushings for me and made my own magwell. I ended up not using anything from the parts kit except the stock and trigger housing.

I think I could build the next one with a reciever made with tube stock and a printed template for about $15. I could just buy the trigger housing for $40 and the stock for $12. Make my own bushings again of course as well as my own magwell.

COULD make my own bolt but that would take a lot longer. Barrel is a must too.

Im thinking now that I got things down better the next build could end up being $300 or less. Would only cost about $100 if I made my own bolt.

Of course as you swap out pre-bought parts for home made ones dollar cost plummets but build time skyrockets.

Initial build took a weekend with all the prebuilt parts, my $100 build would take about a week if thats all I did. Obviously I dont have a week to do nothing all day but work on it so im estimating its real build time would be a couple months.

That's better than an Uzi. I know most tubes comes with the template glued on them. Is it possible to remove it and put it on a new tube, or buy a paper template somewhere?

Can you convert the old bolt, or do you have to start from scratch?

I would like to do a sten SBR, but I have a vision of modifying it to be vertical mag configuration, take uzi mags if possible, have a pistol grip and use a VZ61 folding stock.

I'd cut the hinge assembly off the stock, then weld two small tubes to either side (or the bottom) of the receiver and mount the stock like a G3 folding stock or that Troy PDW stock. Figure out some way to build a spring loaded detention system to lock it in the open and closed position. Maybe add a cheek rest since it's kind of a shorty stock.

You mean kinda like this? (My final built)

Most reciever template manufacturers are very protective of their templates and dont give em out or sell them. The templates are bonded to the reciever like a giant sticker.

They are super simple though, if I got the measurements I could just draw my own up and photo copy it and use tape to wrap it around some tube stock of the proper diameter, thickness, and alloy.

Would cost about $15 for the steel tube and 6 hours or so of time to draw the template up.

It would be more work converting an old bolt than just turning and milling a new one, plus those old bolts are shot to shit and were of questionable quality to begin withp.
>>
>>33279683
Kinda! The more I look at it the weirder i realize stens look with a vertical mag.

How much liberty can be taken with the design? Like is it possible to move the magwell further back if you extend the tube further back to level off with the edge of the pistol grip?

I mean magwell holds are fuckin stupid, you risk pushing the mag release button on accident or pushing the magazine out of alignment and causing a jam but the gun blowing up isnt really a factor as to why its stupid.

Put this bottle opener on my Maverick 88. Trying to tacticool out this shotgun as much as possible.

Ideas?
>>
>>33287674
Tacticool'd shotguns are the worst meme possible. There's absolutely nothing that is useful when you're using a shotgun other than some side belts on the stock or sling, a light, and maybe some better sights.

Fire and jews historically haven't gone well together
>>
>>33287741
Exactly. I bought the thing for less than $200 for the sole purpose of fucking around with it.

Got a light coming in the mail. I've put on a sling, side saddle, M7 bayonet, bayonet lug with rails, and a heat shield. Wanna replace the bead sight with a tru-glo type.
>>
>>33276205
Is this legally classified as a bayonet? If it isn't maybe you could buy it where bayonets are illegal.
>>
>>33276340
Holy shit that's the funniest thing g I've ever seen

I guess I'll throw my 17" bayonet into the fray, but I made it myself for this specific purpose.

99% of Spike's Tactical lowers

95% of lowers with any kind of rollmark besides the company logo

99% of mottos

100% of anything related to comic books or movies.

That's an old A.R.M.S SIR rail system, goes back to the 1990's and was one of the early ideas to build a free float rail system. Why exactly a product from a couple years ago would use that on their display rifle is kind of a mystery but it was a legitimate rail system. Same with the VLTOR CASV system years ago.

Every time i see spikes taticals logo I am reminded of two dicks being driven into the eye sockets of bald guy with a mustache.

I see two dicks swatting at a very angry spider.

faster to change target, more recoil control

It's an objective fact since all good competitive shooters do it
>>
>>33276178
Non shooter detected!

It helps control and stabilize the muzzle when switching targets quickly. I use it exclusively during table 2 rifle qualification and it makes a significant difference in stability

Where the fuck are you dumping your money?
>>
>>33276178
Look, dumbass. If something seems stupid, but the people doing it are posting times two seconds under you, then it might not be that fucking stupid after all, yes? It's the same concept as digging the fuck out of your weak hand heel into the grip of your pistol with the hand rolled forward as much as possible to control muzzle rise. It's uncomfortable as shit but you shoot faster so suck it up.

I bet you faggots go around telling pirates that they're "gay and tryhard" for having wooden mermaids on the fronts of their boats. You just hate fun, that's all, and it doesn't get any more gay and tryhard than that.
>>
>>33275322
Talked with the owner of the company that makes those. He made a more basic one (the warthog) which apparently spikes had trouble keeping up with sales because it was so popular. Spikes even asked for an even more gaudy one so he made that skull one and Spikes got even more sales.

Came here to post this.

>>33291386
I think even during the 17th and 18th century pirates were regarded as tasteless proles who usually ended up in a gibbet, but good on you, your skull sure looks badass, just like your Affliction tshirt.
