All my life I was told horror stories about the terrible places runnaway children are sent to, to the point that I began to develop a fear of the outside world.

You are not getting a handgun from an FFL under 21 full stop.
The FFL can remanufacture the handgun into a rifle which you may then receive, but no one knows whether removing the stock and reinstalling the factory barrel would make it a pistol or SBR.
